Readers,

It was an entirely different kind of sensation for the music lovers that they hadn?t experienced before in Bollywood. Conventional Hindi musicians were ?mouthshutted? on hearing a few non-commercial songs from ?Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam? that almost covered the full ?Sa Re Ga Ma? of music. There was an overflow of appreciations from (non-commercial) musicians and music lovers all over the Country, and the gifted composer Ismail Darbar bagged that year?s National award for his music in that film .

Why such an agitation was there in Bollywood? Because Bollywood consists of commercialists and businessmen who have very less commitment to making good art or film. They give people some fast food to satisfy the instant hunger but not anything to the healthy body. Vulgarity in the form of club dances (shows the deficiency of cloths in India) and bedroom scenes have made the industry very filthy in addition to the underworld relationships. In the case of music only ?copy?cians instead of musicians rule over Bollywood.

The director of the present movie ?HDDCS?, Sanjay Leela Bansali is a shame to the above crew. He has proved it in his debut ?Khamoshi?. How well he has narrated the present film like a poem? Ismaiel Darbar was the best combination that Bansali could get. As a director, he did the best in the same way Darbar did with the music.

The soulful songs are good examples of how well the characters and situations in the story were assimilated by the composer. The songs are like ornaments to the characters (especially to their body language) and situations. The album is a text book for the existing and forthcoming musicians because almost all forms of music from classical to folk are so prepared and presented that even layman can enjoy, hum , and feel them.

My favourite songs are

1. Hum dil de chucke sanam: The best song of the film and the best of Kavitha Krishnamoorty (similar to 1947 a love story) .My favourite part is the humming Aa aaaaaaaa just before the male voice starts. Ajay devgan, Ash, Kavitha, Darbar and Bansali are very visible in it. Minds speak their sorrows. The orchestration is a real work of art.

2. Chonka hawa: Hariharan at his best (similar in Bombay), sang with full control but leaving the voice freely wherever required. Situation is the weeping lover on journey. Full marks to Hariharan and Darbar. Line starting with ?Thandi hawaaye? in the second stanza is very touching with its tune.

3. Aakhon ki: Kumar Sanu and Kavitha in an extraordinary melody. Free from all romantic styles like exercise and words like ?Sanam?,?Janam?,?Dilrupa?, etc in commercial Hindi and a strange sensation to mind that evokes romance. Very well recorded song.

4. Chaand Chupa: Typical for Udit Narayan and Alka. Evokes the feeling of some more serious and sacred romance. ?Gumsum sa hai? that line is very catchy. The photography has been good.

Unfortunately, Drabar lost that year?s filmfare award for best music where A.R. Rahman played the villain. I don?t hate Rahman but the songs of ?Taal? for which he got award were not so live and soulful as the debutant Darbar?s in HDDCS.

I feel that as a trick that the businessmen in Bollywood play. Since they know that Rahman has lot of useful stuff in him, he should be attracted to Bollywood for their commercial profit. The ?right? way is offering Awards (in the same way in which Indians come topper in Miss World like contests). But I admit that Rahman is another genius as Darbar.

But he would be thinking that it happened for good that that year?s National award came for Darbar.
