A FAMILY WEDDING. Review on Hum Aapke Hain Kaun

After having written about Rajshri Production’s Akhinyon Ke Jaronkhon Se I now would like to introduce MS readers to one more magnificent product from the prestigious Rajshri Banner HUM AAPKE HAIN KAUN. This movie was released way back in September 1994 and was called as HAHK.

HAHK opens with Prem and Lallo Prasad along with Tuffy and Rita playing cricket. Prem is the younger brother of Rajesh. Rajesh and Prem both have been brought up under the guidance of Mr. Kailashnath. In order to bring up both these boys in a proper way he has gone to the extent of remaining a bachelor. His friend Professor brings an alliance for Rajesh. The alliance brought by the professor is that of Pooja who is the daughter of Prof. Siddharth Chaudhary. During their college days Siddharth and Kailashnath were college mates and close friends.

Mr.Kailashnath is very excited on getting the alliance. However he comes to know that Prof. Siddharth and his family have gone to Ramtek to attend some religious ceremony. On suggestion of Prem they decide to go Ramtek to meet Pooja.

At Ramtek Rajesh meets Pooja and the alliance is finalised. During the wedding of Rajesh and Pooja Prem starts getting closer to Nisha. Prem and Nisha starts liking each other but they keep their affair hidden from their family members.

Pooja delivers a baby boy. After delivery Pooja plans to visit her parents. Prem is keen enough to accompany her. Only on reaching her parents place does Pooja realise that her parents are out of station and it is Prem and Nisha who have decided to take advantage of the situation. On learning about the love of Nisha and Prem, Pooja is very excited she gives her necklace to Prem and asks him to give it to his future wife (Nisha). Pooja tries to convey this to Rajesh. However she is unable to get Rajesh on line.

After some time when phone rings Pooja runs to answer the call and she slips down from the staircase and needs to be hospitalised. Inspite of treatment being given Pooja is unable to survive.

Siddharth takes the baby home. Nisha takes care of the baby. Rajesh is heart broken on Pooja’s death. Unable to see the grief of Rajesh and with an intention of upbringing of the baby Siddharth decides to get Nisha married to Rajesh. He asks Nisha whether she is willing to become the daughter-in-law of Mr. Kailashnath. Nisha is under the impression that her father is planning to get her married to Prem and she agrees to the alliance.

Siddharth makes all the arrangements for the wedding it is only when the card is printed does Nisha realise the folly. But then it is too late.

On learning this though Prem gets disappointed but for the sake of his brother and his kid, Prem and Nisha decides to sacrifice their love for the happiness of his family.

Before the marriage ceremony Nisha comes across the necklace given to her by Prem she wraps it in her kerchief with a note to Prem stating that “Pooja had a desired that this necklace be worn by your wife, since I do not have that privilege I am returning it back to you to be given to its rightful owner”. Tuffy comes across the kerchief it grabs the kerchief and hands it over to Rajesh. On going through the note Rajesh comes to know about the love between Prem and Nisha and he realises about the sacrifice that his brother was about to for him. He arranges to get Nisha and Prem married.

HAHK is not a movie but a family melodrama.

Doctor and his wife and Professor and his wife are shown as family friends and well wishers of Kailashnath and his family.

The best part of the movie is the music and fabulous songs which are
