The Chinese manufacturer huawei has been lagging behind bigger players Apple and Samsung for a long time even when their phones have been good enough to compete with them at least from a hardware point of view. But when it comes to marketing and software upgrades Huawei has been a big dud. But this mobile may be a welcome change to the ailing line. Huawei dubs this phone as the most powerful smartphone yet and from the looks of it, it is capable of pulling it off very well. This mobile was released in the CES that ended 2 days ago and has been a newsmaker since then. It looks to give a tough competition to the recently released sony Xperia Z and ZL along with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple Iphone.

Display – The mobile comes with a huge 5 inch display which is a full HD IPS+ LCD display. The resolution of the screen is 1080 x 1920 with a pixel density of 441 ppi which matches up to the other phones in the similar price range. It is a 10 point multi touch display providing better typing experiences. Over all it is an impressive screen with wonderful viewing angles better than the Xperia Z’s Screen.

Look and Feel – Like other huawei phones this too has a plasticky feel to it. The body is made of milky white glossy plastic with a metallic frame that runs through its circumference. The body feels quite slippery in the hand and also may be a little heavy at 170 gms. But overall it is a nice looking phone a very impressive.

Dimensions – The phone has a thickness of 9.9 mm which may not be as thin as other phones with  similar specifications. As I had said earlier the phone weighs 170 gms and its dust and water resistant. Good enough but could have been better in this regard.

Operating System and Softwares – The mobile comes with Android Jelly bean 4.1 out of the box but a jelly bean 4.2 could have been an icing on the cake. The company has promised an update soon. The Emotion UI has always seen major upgrades and has been touted as being revolutionary.

Processor and Chipset – Under the hood of this device runs a 1.5 ghz Ouad core krait processor. It runs on a Huawei K3V2 chipset. The processor does lag behind the Snapdragon and the Exynos in terms of performance. So others have an edge over this one.

Memory – The phone has 2 GB of RAM and along with the a 1.5 ghz processor this mobile is very good for multi tasking. Apart from that it has 32 gb of inbuilt storage but with no micro sd card expansion slot which is a disappointment and there is no talks on cloud storage as well.

Camera – The device has a 13 MP camera and 2 Mp front camera both capable of HD recording the camera is also equipped with a BSI sensor for advanced low light performance. But as per initials response it is not upto mark.

Battery life – the phone has a huge 3000 mah battery capable of 20 days of standby time on 3G. And upto 12 hrs of continuous  usage with 8 hrs of video playback time. Pretty impressive isn’t it?

Price and Availability –The device maybe price at around 35 k but the official pricing aren’t yet confirmed. It will be released around the 3rd week of February. So we’ll have to wait some time.

Verdict – this is the best to come out of the Chinese manufacturer as yet, but giving a competition to established players like Samsung and Apple is a dream right now.

Thanks and Regards,

SlightlyDrunk
