Before arriving at tips on how to quit!

Here are 10 petty reasons why you should quit!

1) Cigarettes are full of chemicals and poisons.tobacco smoke contains over 4, 000 chemicals.

2) Tobacco smoke also contributes to a number of  cancers.

3) The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and blood vessels. This can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands

4)Tar coats your lungs like soot in a chimney and causes cancer.

5)Carbon monoxide robs your muscles, brain and body tissue of oxygen, making your whole body and especially your heart  work harder.

6) Lung cancer from smoking  is caused by the tar in tobacco smoke. Men who smoke are ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than non-smokers.

7)Heart disease and strokes are also more common among smokers than non-smokers.

8) Smoking causes fat deposits to narrow and block blood vessels which leads to heart attack.

9)Smoking causes around one in five deaths from heart disease.

10) Smoking KILLS

I started smoking at the age of 17, and smoked habitually for a period of 7 years, smoking about 2-3 Cigarettes a day, some times more.

Comparaing to some *'Chain Smokers' * I was a novice. but I have only one thing to say AM HAPPY I QUIT!.

Peer pressure was the reason I started and'Heart & Lung' pressure is the reason I quit.

I started realising the toll this habit was taking on me when I was not able to pratice for my badminton games . The number of games I used to practice actually came down considerably. I could feel the difference within me. I would be gasping for breath within 4-5 games, I would sweat like a pig. My throat would be parched and dry.

Quitting smoking is a * Do it yourself project * your friends and family can only act as supporters.

I had tried and failed many times.

I tried the way of phasing out by reducing the number for Cigarettes I smoked in a day, this would work for some days, but then I would be back on track of my usual or more Cigarettes.

Keeping your self occupied helps, idle brains is the devils smokeshop. smokers tend to love smoking if they have nothing better to do, like when waiting for a friend to come, waiting for a bus or a train etc. I started carrying a walkman with me to distract myself from going to buy a Cigarette shop in such situations.

Decision! Decide that u have to quit and stick by it! Nothing can help you quit more than your own will power.

This is the way I quit. On April 1st of 1999 I decided that this is the last day I would smoke .

The initial few days was a problem. Was not able to concentrate on anything, was again and again tempted to just go and have one smoke. RESIST THIS at any cost.

If you have a place from where u usually buy a Cigarette, or a place where you smoke most often, Avoid that place. change the route you go to college, office.

The ways I adopted to quit may or may not work for others on the quitting path, but I really hope that these tips would work for some one.

SMOKING WON'T solve any thing, it is just a myth that it helps you relive tension.

Life will be the same, You smoke or no! In fact it would be better, healthier, fuller once you quit!

Cheers!
