The journey of quit smoking begins at the moment you have finally decided to give up this habit. Once you have decided to quit, foolowing guidelines can be of some help


1) Set a date for quitting this habit and if possible tell everybody in your family about your resolution.


2)Now try to remember the situations in which you strongly want to smoke e.g. before morning tea, while driving, after meals etc.


3) according change your routine in such a manner that you could not get enough time in the activities which stimulates you to smoke.


4)Whenever there is a strong urge for smoking take chewing gum, hard boiled candy, clove etc in your mouth. However, deep breathing practices can also be beneficial in such situation.Always remember that this urge lasts only for 2-3 minutes so try to control it for some time.


5)At the end of the day reward yourself for not smoking. You can go for a dinner or movie or a long drive for the same.


6) Entertain your self through various activities like writing, reading, painting, walking or exercising. These activities will generate a feeling of well-being in your self.


7) There can be relapses of smoking so do not be discouraged and try to quit again.


8) Drink plenty of water and other fluids like juices and shakes.
