The CET (Common Entrance Test) is the entrance test for the two-year full-time Master of Management Studies (MMS)/ Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes conducted by more than 75 institutes affiliated to nine Universities in the state of Maharashtra (India) ONLY.

CET scores are NOT valid anywhere else.

About the test

The CET is of 2 and 1/2 hrs duration with about 200 questions spread over different areas, viz. Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, and Visual Reasoning.

The test is followed immediately by Group Discussion & Personal Interview. (17 marks each)

After the written test and GD/PI , a merit ranking of the candidates based on their performance is put up. Higher your rank better are you chances to get admission in Creme de la Creme institute otherwise something like Babasaheb Gawde Institute is willing to take you in. :)))

Successful preparation for CET

The written test is your acid test. If you dont score well in these, No matter how well you do in Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI) your score cannot soar high.

200 Marks for written test. Now how do you get these???

Elementary question My Dear watson!!!

All you need to do is study.

Go back to your 10th and High School Maths. Think that its not CET but your Boards. Study day and night if you have forgotten what was taught in school.

There are a lot of study materials available which will gear you up for taking the test. Also a lot of previous years question papers are available which you can practice. Get it all and start preparing.

Mock CET

Before the actual test, a lot of institutes offer Mock CET which is held on the same principles as the CET. There are many CET aspirants taking the test and by the end of it, they give you a score and a ranking. It will show you where you stand and will give you an idea of how much more preparation needs to be put in.

Dont forget to take as many mock tests as possible

There are some people (brainy types) who will do really well in the written test but will goof up in the Group Discussion and Interview. Somehow they will become tongue tied and stare at other participants as if they were aliens playing football.

For them, its very essential to be more outward and expressive. Since these qualities are not achieved overnight, they need to give a lot of dummy interviews and enter group discussions. There are many institutes which give you a practice for the same.

Alternatively, a course in Personality development and Public speaking can help too.

Remember, the written test is important but at the same time GD/PI cannot be overlooked.

You have to be a Champion at BOTH.

If you can Master Both the Games, then only you are worth being admitted into an MBA program and worth getting the extra chip on your shoulder once you acquire the title. And worth throwing you weight around in the office and worth getting that loads of chips stacked in your bank accounts and worth .... whatever...

Hey I am not biased against MBAs. In any case who cares!!!
