Story:

I can?t remember, can you? Oh, yea you are right it was a review that I wanted to write?thanks a lot. It?s so obvious really, if I am on MouthShut that?s what I am supposed to do, that?s when I am not RRCing ? God!

This RRC thing distracted me, now I don?t remember the topic I intended to write my review on. I scribbled a few notes on a piece of paper and, maybe, that should help, but I am still trying to remember where I put that piece of paper away. What a shame! I had all the information on that paper before I logged on to MouthShut, but can?t seem to find it just yet.

Okay, don?t push me I am trying to remember, bear with me. Let me give you a piece of paper ? oops, sorry, information. I have switched on the proprietary mental search engine to scan my ?attic? database, and I am sure it can come up with the topic I am groping for.

Meanwhile, let me draw your attention to something, I perceive, lying on my table. Ah! It?s a book on ?HOW TO DEVELOP A SUPER POWER MEMORY.? I don?t think I really need this thing, my memory is pretty good? you know! Anyway, let me describe in detail about this book for the benefit of all ?mortals of a lesser memory.?

I am sure many of you on MS need it desperately, because you can?t remember for sure what topic I am supposed to write on and are simply wasting my time. What the heck? You are even making me digress from the issue.

Okay, now where was I? ? like I was saying the MS is ?no ?ah ? I was talking about SUPER POWER MEMORY and how to develop it. You need to hear it right from the horse?s mouth (the author?s, I mean).

It?s a book written by the best selling author of ?SECRETS OF MIND POWER.? Can?t seem to remember the author?s name, though! Anyway, I am interested in memory and how to develop it, not the author. Okay, this guy ?Whatshisname? has written another best selling book ?HOW TO DEVELOP A SUPER POWER MEMORY.?

This book really rocks (i.e. if a book can rock). If, by the time I finish you have improved enough memory power to remember anything I said about this book, you can go get one for yourself. There I go digressing again, and it?s entirely your fault? What?

God! ... You make it so difficult for me to focus on this book ? well, what was it again? ? Ah! Yes, that is what I was coming to ? ?SUPER POWER MEMORY? it is?

Now, this author claims you can earn ?more money,? you can get ?higher grades,? you can win ?more friends.? As if I care anything about grades. Friends are welcome, but it?s money that everyone wants. In my book it is money that makes the world go round and friendship too ?and love too ?and ?oh ?you make me go digressing again, it?s definitely your fault.

This ?developing memory? stuff is really good. I have been practicing it for ages, and I have a good memory. Anyway, this guy ?Whatshisname? has done a wonderful job. You must observe and not see, you must listen and not hear, you must contemplate and not just allow a fleeting thought, is what he tries to convey. I totally agree with him, and you know how good my memory is.

To remember, first it should register in your mind. What is not registered cannot be recollected. Secondly, there is no such thing as poor memory. ?Whatshisname? says there is only trained or untrained memory. He also says you ought to have interest in remembering things, if you don?t inculcate interest in remembering things then you can hardly recollect them. Age is not a factor in remembering things, interest is.

There are methods to remembering things. One is the Link Method. You need to associate ridiculous mental images with things you want to remember. For example, I always had trouble recollecting the name ?Anthony Hopkins.? A simple enough name to remember, but all other names would come to my mind whenever I tried to recollect the name of this Hollywood actor. Finally, I tried to associate ?Hopkins? to Hawkins Pressure Cooker.

Now, Hawkins is a name that is already registered in my mind. I merely associated a mental image of Hawkins Cooker full of ?ants? and so hot it was hopping on the stove. This image was so ridiculous that I could never forget it. A hopping Hawkins would always connect me to ?Hopkins? and Anthony would follow. The more ridiculous the image the more easy it is for us to remember all things connected with that image.

The above method is just one among the many methods mentioned in the book to develop your memory. I am not going to write a book here, so if you want to know more about the other methods, better buy the book. Whenever I dwell on this subject my memory keeps improving. I have been practicing slyly the ?ridiculous mental imagery? stuff on ?Whatshisname? while discussing about the merits of this book, and I can now recollect his name ? Harry Lorayne it is. Do me a favour; don?t ask me what mental image I had formed of him to remember his name.

Harry Lorayne?s ?HOW TO DEVELOP A SUPER POWER MEMORY? is very useful to students, working people, business people, gossiping people (highly recommended to this section), politicians (once elected, they seem to contract amnesia)? in fact, anyone who wants to remember anything worthwhile. This book is not meant for those readers who wish to forget some of the most forgettable reviews they have read on MS, including this one.

This book has all the ingredients to make people more attentive and resourceful in remembering things which they, normally, would find it very difficult to remember.

Eureka! Talking of remembering difficult things, I just remembered that this was the very topic I wanted to write in the first place until you folks somehow diverted my attention, all your fault. Alas! Now, what is there to write? I have already written so much inadvertently.

The only thing left for me to do is to give you some sane advice. Get this book by ?hook or crook.? On second thoughts, better buy it. Practice the simple exercises mentioned in the book diligently. I could have mentioned all the exercises in my review, but for 2 reasons - you are lazy and so will refer my review instead of the book, secondly I will need another 16 k of MS review space. So, go get the book and begin in right earnest, I promise you won?t repent this decision.

?I don?t care how poor you may think your memory is now! I believe that you have a memory 10 to 20 times more powerful than you realize today!? ? Harry Lorayne.

Now, where was I??
