Being eight reviews old now (this being my ninth!!), I thought it was the perfect time to write a review on this topic… for its neither too early (I now know my way around the place at least!!) nor too late (for an absent-minded person like me, its very easy to forget!!). So here’s my story……
As for my introduction to the site, I had come across it many-a-times when I was looking to read reviews on current movies and books.. and I always thought it was a site where all the writers were professionals!! And it never ever came to mind that I could, myself, have been one of those.. come on now! Writing just wasn’t my cup of tea!! But then one fine day, my cousin Aditya (n.aditya) sent me one of his reviews by mail!! I still remember, it was on the film BLACK and till date is one of the best I’ve read!!
Well anyway, I loved it so much, that this time, I attended the site and registered myself on it!! Because apparently to access some reviews, I needed to be a member!! And still I did not believe I could actually write myself…… And then, God only knows why, I decided to write a review on Iqbal, for I wanted everyone to know what a wonderful movie it was (well, I was blissfully unaware that there were others who had already done such a wonderful job at that)!! And I sat and crafted the review for like.. days on end (and it was Exam Time!!) and then finally decided to post it when I thought it was fine!!
But then I realised: Iqbal ko release huye to kitni der ho gayi hai, who’ll read my review?? But anyway, happy with my accomplishment in finally finishing the review, I posted it late in the night!! And I remember, when I was posting it, I put an alert on it being read as well as rated!! The next day morning, I went to give my exams, and came back by ‘round 11am and immediately opened my mail box (as is my habit!!)…. And what am I to find there?? For a person like me who gets merely 8-10 mails a day, my mail box was overflowing with 55 (yes! You saw it right!) mails!! ‘Your review had been read’, ‘Your review has been rated’, ‘comment added to your review’ and it just went on and on….. and I was overwhelmed…… to say the least!! I was prancing around all over the room…. And my younger brother was totally exasperated, as to how silly his sis could be!! : )
But nothing can beat my excitement when I read the comments that were posted!! As always, there were Pras (Cticize) and Sachien with their really sweet and encouraging comments……. And, among others, there was Nikunj (patenik) whose comment really made me wanna write more reviews!! Just how people get time to read, as well as rate, and also comment on so many reviews continues to amaze me till now!! And I sincerely want to thank all the people who have taken the time to read, rate and comment on my reviews….. Believe me guys, its so encouraging when you see that people actually notice you and your work, and appreciate it!!
Well anyway, so that’s how my journey started…… and I sure hope it doesn’t end too soon!! For now, I’m totally addicted to this site….. where I’ve already managed to make a really sweet friend in Amit (the_final_verdict) and find some great ‘like-minded’ company in Ankita (starpluswatcher04)!! Hey Ankita, hope that’s not an insult!! Apart from that, I’ve also come across some great writers like Pras (Cticize), Ali (coolcritic007), Madlaya, afrank, Teena (teena_sri), criminal, Chandra (chand_tare), Ekta (ekta_unity), Anusha (krazy4sonu)…….., and the list just goes on!! And apart from being great reviewers, these guys are also really nice people…. Who, I’ve always observed, take time to encourage new reviewers too!! I always wonder if I’ll ever be able to write as well, and as effectively as all of you do!! Here’s a big thanks to all of you!!
Well, so that’s how I ‘discovered’ mouthshut.com….. and I will always be thankful to them ‘coz unknowingly, we’ve been given a platform from where we can influence others views and guide them in the right (maybe sometimes wrong too!!) decisions!!
Sorry for boring you with such a long review, but I had to write it as a tribute to a website that has me totally addicted!!
