What Are Msn Playing at?. Review on Hotmail

In the good old days Msn Hotmail was the best email service around. I would still say its the best but am starting to change my mind.

Firstly you have to sign up which is free by going to https://hotmail.com. That only takes a few minutes by filling in your profile information. You give them your first name, second name, main Language, country, region, postal code, time zone, gender, birth date and oocupation.

Below that you have to fill in your account information. You write the name of the email address you would like, password, retype password, secret question you want to use, the answer to secret question and you pick whether or not to be in the Hotmail Member Directory and Internet White Pages.

The Hotmail Member Directory is a directory where you can look for other members. Simply by filling in the persons name, region etc. Same goes for the White pages. The reason they ask for secret question and answer is incase you forget your password. Simply go to forgot password on the Hotmail page and type in your email address. You will then be asked your secret question, and then when you type the answer in you change the pasword and it will automaticly change to the new password.

After you sign up you go to your account when you sign in. the front page will tell you how much percentage of your account your using, how many emails you have in your account and how many are new and also how much junk mail you have and how many are new. Also on the front page are various advertisements and lots of links to other web sites. There are also five tabs that take you to home, inbox, compose and contacts. With also options and help to the side of this.

The inbox shows you all your emails. You can put them in order by name or date. If you put them in order of date you can put the newest or oldest emails first. On the left side are links to all your folders in your account. Theres junk mail, sent mesages, drafts, trash can and any others you have made. To make a new folder click on create folder and type in a new name. To delete emails highlite the emails you want to delete and click delete. To block someone do the same thing. Or to put emails into a folder do the same thing and click move to put in folder and click the folder you want.

The compose is where you write the email. After you have wrote the email in the mesage box, you have to type the address of the person your sending the email to in the To box and also write the subject of the email in the subject box. usually a simple hello is good enough. To send the email to more than one person, in the to box simply put a comma after the address and put another one. Once you send the email it gets to another Hotmail accound in a second. But may take a while to reach another email service account such as Yahoo.

Contacts are just where you type ur freinds emails and name in. By going to the contacts tab and clicking on a persona name, you wont have to type the the addrerss in the email since you have already writen it.

But anyway back to my main point. Hotmail is getting worse everyday. At one time you used to be allowed over 2600MB in your account. Now this is only just over 2MB. If you go over the 2MB limit in your account you stop receiving emails untill you go below this limit. But all your new emails bounce and you never get them. Even when you lower your account. You will also notice the amount of junk mail in your account everyday. I get those of this everyday now.

Hotmail will charge you £19.99 a year to increase your email account space to 10MB. But thats only if you want to. Theres also advertisements in Hotmail accounts and there ever used to be.

I dont know why they are doing this. Bill Gates is already rich enough and doesnt need to start chargeing us for Hotmail accounts. If it comes to the point where you get charged just to open an account, ill have to open another email account with another service such as Yahoo

As for the site its mostly just Blue and White. Its really fast most of the time to get into your account. Theres also various links for things such as forgot pasword, sign up, contact Hotmail and link to Hotmail. Also eay to work your way around the site.
