My cousins stay at thane and not quite often do I go to their place but when I go there we hangout at this place called Omkar Hotel. It's not a big joint nor is it very famous but there is something beyond this that makes me go there. The place is quite good in terms of the food served and the friendly atmosphere.
It's not a place where one can go with his date or any girl but can certainly go with set of friends like hangout. I'm saying it's not worth to go with a girl here because normally girls prefer restaurants that are very good in ambiance, presentation of food. The presentation here isn't that tempting but the food is certainly awesome and I can bet on that.
Me and my cousins discovered this place when we ran out of food at home and then we searched over the web the nearby restaurants. We found this restaurant and then I preferred searching for reviews on this restaurant on mouthshut but couldn't find any review.
This place is famous for North Indian, Mughlai, Malwani and the Mughlai served here is just so awesome. I'm a die hard fan of mughlai food, and any dish into gravy with tandoor roti satisfies your taste buds.
One thing that I loved about the tandoor roti's here was that it was made out of wheat rather than maida, which at times is harmful. Stuffs made out of wheat are very healthy, and my mom encourages me to have stuffs made out of wheat.
The Malwani dishes too were very good here and the konkan feel came alive after having it. My ancestors are all from konkan side so I do know how does a malwani dish tastes. Sadly there are hardly any restaurants that serve good malwani dishes. This hotel is one place that serves good malwani dishes. Dishes served into chicken are very good, right from the starters to main course everything was very tasty.
Chicken Malwani, chicken tava, chicken handi and chicken moglai are some of the dishes that I have tried here. All were priced decently and won't bother you about the bill. Me and my 3 cousins, always go here and the bill does not crosses over 800 in spite having stomach full food.
The food is awesome, but it lags in presentation as compared to those big restaurants that we compare. I would rate it a 3.5 star out of 5, as the presentation isn't upto the mark, but small restaurants are always like this.
The customer service is also good and one does not have to wait long for the food after placing the order. The food is quickly delivered at your table, much before you expect it to be delivered. One thing that I disliked about this restaurant was that it didn't have the option of home delivery. So instead of ordering from home, we have to go to this place.
As my cousins stay in Vrindavan society itself this place isn't far from the house. But for people who wish to come here, they have to travel very far. This place is almost 3 kms from station and one can reach this place by bus. I would rate it a 4 on 5 star for customer service.
Timing is also a factor as this place starts at 11 in the morning and closes somewhere around 4, so if you reach this place post 4pm you could be turned down for food, so better reach before 4pm. Then the place opens again at 7 and closes by 11pm.
The ambiance and decor is not that great, so avoid it going with a girl and prefer going with friends. I would rate it a 2 on 5 star for ambiance and decor.
It's a value for money place, considering the fact that the food served is awesome especially the malwani dishes. If your a chicken lover visit this place once.
