I visited Coorg this week and found the place to be a beauty. I late checked in during early morning and found the person at the reception to be prompt in guiding me to the hotel during the middle of the night(4 o clock in the morning). Actually it is walk-able distance from the Mercara Bus stand; however it is recommended to take the Auto as it is not visible directly from the main road and needs some searching. Although it is barely half a km from the station, it will need some searching if you are new to the place.
Hotel & Ambiance:
I had read very bad reviews about the hotel, so I was worried about the hotel .However things and perspective changed once I stayed. As mentioned in the reviews, the first thing I noticed was the peeling wall paints . The rooms certainly needs some maintenance for the walls. You have plenty of cupboards and almirahs for storing your clothes and luggages and there is lot of wood work in the room which gives a homely feeling . However, the room needs to a bit of upgrading to make it feel like Rs 1500 per night. The bathroom was decent and clean and properly maintained which made my heart a little better.
However when hot water comes, it comes in both taps . The bed cover was yellowish in color or pale white to be little benevolent on the hotel. However they replaced it with new bed cover when asked; so no complains! The rooms were cleaned on a regular basis and bed covers, bathrooms were maintained good everyday.
The view from the room is decent with proper views of the mountains and the entire city of Coorg.The hotel has market very close by; hence everything is easily accessible . However to be honest, every hotel in coorg is located nearby to this place, :)
Staff Behaviour:
The staff were very prompt and helpful.The reception was always active and within two rings, somebody picked the call even in late night. I asked for a bed cover change in the middle of night, the person himself brought it within 5 mins. I asked for hot water in the middle of the day and the attendant brought a bucket of hot water from somewhere .They arranged drinking water for us from a nearby shop and a travel package for the city with good options. So I will rate the staff very high.
However the travel package is not worth taking directly from the hotel albeit for the convenience and security . You can get it outside for Rs200-300 less but you are not sure about the reputation of the driver and cab agency
