Thought of visiting Mahabaleshwar in peak rainy season and started looking for hotel options. The location of this hotel attracted me and it is really at a nice location.
> Arrival Experience:
This was the worst part of this experience. We arrived around 9pm at night and called up 2 days in advance to inform about our late arrival. We really enjoyed the drive in thick fog, heavy rains and fully slept hill-station.
Front Desk guys sound very cooperative in the beginning, ordering his boys to take our luggage from car and carry to our room.
The real saga started when we saw the so called 'rooms'. They were horrible not prepared for guests, no lights in first room, after 10 mins of efforts, they gave up and opened up another room. The second was fully wet and smelly, fungus on the wall and furniture. The bedsheet and pillow covers were smelly and not sleep-able.
I requested to check another room which was no different that the second. We were pissed off and went to front desk. I started bombarding him on the preparation of room for guests and condition of the room. He silently told me that those are the only available and requested to occupy them for that night and he will move me to duplex room next day noon.
He shouted at his boys to clean up asap. When he knew that we were suppose to come, how can he wait to prepare these rooms till we arrive at hotel. We went back to room which boys confirmed that they cleaned, I checked the toilet and suspected the flush by looking at its condition... ohh I was not surprised to find it non-working and all dirt stuck around.
I was furious and literally shouted at that front desk guy. All of sudden, he decided to open up a duplex room for me by showing how merciful he is to give me that room by shifting the upcoming guests to another hotel (it was a sheer lie that no rooms were available that night). This new room took another 15 mins to clean-up and we were in car till that time and the rain was pouring outside.
> Room:
This room was little better than prior ones (NEVER.. ever settle down to stay in rooms those are on the left side of entrance.. at least in rains). The room boys were coming in the room with footwear on and I had to tell them to remove them before entering room and put a cloth at the entrance. The room had proper toilet and bath this time.. but the floor was not cleaned to our expectations. Bed sheets, pillows were ok. The upper room had floor bed which we did not use. The view of hotel from the window upstairs was quite pleasant in rains.
The next hot water did not last for more that 30 mins and they provided hot water buckets.
> Restaurant:
We did not dare to eat anything throughout our stay, we ordered some soft drinks during our dinner bought from outside. The drinks were not chilled as if they were kept outside.
> Location:
Location and ambiance of this property is very good. It is pretty near to Old Mahabaleshwar and Kate's point. Panchgani is near from his location. Excellent views of thick forest around and we enjoyed small walks around the place.
My verdict is stay away from this hotel if you want good customer oriented staff, clean rooms and better money to comfort ratio.
