We stayed for 3 nights in Ginger Hotel , Goa very recently. Below is our experience with this Hotel.
In General - One of the advantage is their location. This is behind the Kadamba Bus Stand, in Panaji City. So the accessibility is good. But the rooms are very small and you will feel suffocation inside as soon as you enter the room.
Room Rates - This is resonable. We paid only 1249 per night with breakfast for an AC double room in the last week of September, just before the peak season starts. Many of the 3* hotels in Goa are available in this range during the non-peak time.
Rooms- In total there are 137 rooms. They have only one standard type of room (Double/Twin). But the Room size is very small. Bathroom is also very small. As soon as you enter the room, this will be the first thing you notice. I had seen people are asking in Reception for a bigger room after the check-in. And the standard reply was, sorry, we have only one standard type of rooms, all are same in size.!
Second thing, here it is not centralised AC, it's individual AC's in each room. If the AC is switched off even for 2 minutes, you will feel difficult to stay inside. This happened to us in the 2nd night. AC went down mid night 2' o clock. We woke up because of suffocation and came out. Then we had seen that people from other rooms across the floor also had come out as all the AC's got cut off due to some issues in the AC power supply across the floor. We had spent a good 20 minutes outside till the problem got fixed.
Cleanliness - Overall cleanliness was good, but we had noticed that inside the cupboard, there were fungus grown, so we couldn't use it. Then there was no waste basket in the room. We asked 3 times for that in reception, but never got it. !! Bad service / Management.
Bathroom - Another problem we have found there. Here if you are taking a bath, then suddenly the water flow will stop, and in next two seconds it will start again, but only the hot water will be coming out of the shower for next 30-40 seconds. This problem occurs in every 1 or 2 minutes. Water supply suddenly stops and starts again after few seconds, only with hot water.
Second thing, there is no airflow coming to the bathroom. And this is having very little space. So in 2-3 minutes time, you will feel suffocation and can't stay there for more than 4-5 minutes. !!
Breakfast - It's complimentary breakfast, quality was just ok or managable. They have some varities, but the taste was not so good. Atleast you have got bread+butter+jam there in standard taste. !! One another problem was with space. They have got limited seating, and if the hotel is full, you have to wait for a long tome to get a seat there at the breakfast time.
Wi-Fi- Reception people (not at all knowledgable on this, seems they themself are not sure if the facility is there!!) told it is 100 Rs for an hour, and one time use. So we didn't try the wi-fi.
Service - As it's a self service concept hotel, nobody will be there to take your luggage or assist you. All self service. Overall advice is, if you get a better hotel at this rate or bit higher, go for that. Main advantage with this hotel is the location. So if location is important and don't mind much for the facilities, go for this.
