Dear friend's
We visited Palani in the early part of March, just after aiyappa season and just before the panguni festival, perfect timing as the crowd was almost non existant in the early morning hours. The hotel is strategically located right on the giri road( road around the mountain on which the temple is located).
Excellent reception and lounge they have upfront, ample parking space if you are travelling as a family, you could even park a bus if you have to! We took a deluxe double room with A/C. The rooms are quite the contrast in comparison to the reception. It looks like an old hotel that has had only a face lift! To start with, the doors have only a padlock, I atleast expect a lock which is directly mounted on the door if not a smart card enabled one.
The interiors are ordinary but the sheets were clean. The wash basin located inside the room. Wierd! There was a western toilet maintained clean but the design of the toilet itself was found wanting. Hot water was not available 24 hours a day and even when it was available early in the morning it was not hot. Just luke warm. The restaurant is just located adjacent to the parking lot which is frequented by the vehicle's, lot of dust coming in! And it is not frequented by the regular crowd because it is situated behind the building, the food is just average. We paid 1800 for the room, location and exteriors look like we got a good bargain but after experiencing the actual stay I would say it is overpriced by at least 20%
