It is true that once it was a very popular place. People used to spend a day or two and enjoy the cool climate in Summers. But I am very sad to say that the Forest Department of Andhra Pradesh has totally neglected the only hill resort in Andhra Pradesh. I have gone with my family two weeks ago. I found that the public transport system is not very encouraging to the visitors. You had to wait hours for the APSRTC Bus. Madanapalli Depot has assigned just one single bus which takes passengers three times a day from Madanapalli Bus stand.
Atlast when you reach there, you find a small park. Inside the part you find some caged birds, monkeys and a crocodile pond. Believe me you don't get water to wash your hands after you have you lunch. Forget about drinking water. You find tanks beautifully mounted in the park. People go there with bottles and be fooled with empty tanks.
Only thing you enjoy is coolness. Nothing more. Children can run around and play. The elders have just to sit and watch their children play and mean while wait for the next bus.
There is a big scope for making it a tourist centre. But APFD & AP Tourism Department seems to be sleeping. I hope they wake up and realise that AP has only one hill resort and it needs to be developed and make it attractive for the tourists.
