?Honey, I shrunk the kids? is one of the best comedy movies. The movie depicts the life of an over ambitious scientist who creates a strange gadget to shrink down things. I really liked this movie. I really liked the actors/actresses and the plot. Directed by Joe Johnston, the movie is a great source of entertainment.

Wayne Szalinski (Rick Moranis) is an over ambitious scientist who spends most of his time in the attic inventing new gadgets. His latest gadget is a machine which can shrink things. He tests his new gadget on an apple but the experiment fails miserably.

He lives with his wife Diane Szalinski (Marcia Strassman), son Nick (Robert Oliveri) and daughter Amy (Amy O?Neill). His wife is a working woman and spends most of the time at work. Nick is about 10-12 years old and he spends most of his time in making small gadgets. Amy is in her late teens and does most of the housework.

Meanwhile we meet the neighbours of the Szalinski family, the Thompsons. Russ Thompson Sr. (Matt Frewer) is the head of the Thompson family. He lives with his wife Mae Thompson (Kristine Sutherland) and their two sons Russ Thompson Jr. (Thomas Brown) and Ron Thompson (Jared Rushton).

Ron Thompson, accidentally breaks the window of Szalinski?s attic with a baseball. The base ball activates the machine. The machine starts shrinking all the furniture in the attic. The Szalinski's kids Amy and Nick, and the Thompson kids, Russ and Ron rush to bring the ball but unfortunately get shrunk by the machine when they enter the attic.

Later, Wayne unknowingly sweeps his attic and puts the garbage bag in the backyard. The children somehow get out of the garbage bag and realize that they are in the backyard of Szalinski house. Hereafter the story becomes interesting.

The children face several difficulties during their journey towards the house. The insects which were no threat to them when they were of normal size now become their biggest nightmare. In the end the children are restored to their normal size and they return safely to their respective houses. The Szalinskis and the Thompsons become good friends.

The movie is a complete family entertainer and is suitable for people of all age groups. The sound and video Quality is excellent. I recommend this movie to all of you. The movie is easily available in video libraries. Go and watch the movie :-)
