Heavenly Ride. Review on Honda Unicorn 150 cc

Guys this is not review but rather my initial encounters with my Uni. I am not much technically interested in torque, rpm & hp etc(as not engineer, does not know those things) rather interested in ride. I joined wing rider club on 9/12/08 & clocked 400km till now.

I purchased my bike from Saraf Honda, Baramati for 60675/- with out road tax & passing but with accessories like crash guard & no. plates. On the very next day I knew from news papers that Honda has reduced prices near about Rs.2000 less from 8/12/08. I feel very bad & mailed ( given feed back) on company’s web site. Next day I received response from them that money will be refunded to me & the same day dealer also called me to collect refund cheque & sign the customer delight note. They had refunded me Rs.1919/- Wow! what a company they are very cautious about their reputation.

Now come to bike.

"Heavenly ride" nothing else can be said about riding on Unicorn.

Look:-

Look is marvelous. I purchased Pearl Igneous Black model. In looks nobody can say that it is inferior to Pulsar or any other bike in 150cc segment. I am from small town where there are other 3/4 Uni’s but they are old models. Usually bike crazy people’s look at the bike but I saw from 1st floor of my house when bike parked on ground floor. Boys of ages 10 to 15, girls of ages 14 to 20, old persons are looking keenly to bike with protruding eyes. I feel that they might be saying Wow! Amazing bike.

This really make me feel like Onida TV advertise“ Owner’s pride Neighbour’s envy.”Though I have purchased bike for my mere pleasure & not for getting compliments from others still it makes a proud sense.

Engine sound & Riding:-Everybody know that Honda has refined engine as much as possible that’s why they have not changed engine from the lauch.While riding I imagined ( rather bike forces me to imagine) like wings comes out of bike & I am riding in air. Its like something “Chala jata hoon apane hi dhun mein.” Till now I have rided all the Bajaj bikes except avenger, All HH bikes except KZma , Yamaha bikes including R15, Bullet std & Electra 4s but no bike gave me such mesmerizing riding pleasure.

Reliability :-What can be said about Honda’s reliability. They are the best. Just half the start switch & bike starts. From the MS I know about 93% are with Honda & no body can disprove this. I wrote about Bajaj in CT 100 bike review how some people are unreliable!

Gears:-Gears shifting OK! OK! That means it is smooth but I don’t feel like butter smooth as many narrate in their reviews. I have not felt sliding over butter still they are smooth & has not made me any trouble.

Horn:-Horn is not loud but I personally feel that it is sufficient in day to day life. Why make sound pollution with big horns? & irritate the persons which are walking on side roads. But every body has choice & I am not here to hurt anybody’s feelings.

•Paint job is excellent.

•Light is powerful, multi reflector is very good.

•Riding position is ergonomically very comfortable.

•Tyres are not broad but are enough wide.

•Mileage I got is about 50kmpl still 1st servicing is not done.

•Handling is very easy though bike is big one.

•Pick is not deadly but for me I am satisfied.

•With three persons on bike wt about 230 kg till there is not slightest change in pickup, firing. •Mono Suspension by default is on soft setting, this makes jump to pillion. I am going to change it to medium on first servicing.

•The only negative thing I got is Chain slack. When I take turn bike is inclined to either side then chain hits chain cover & make noise. I am going to tighten it on first servicing. Hat’s off to Honda for such nice product Unicorn!

Lastly to Every Wing Rider Have a “ Heavenly Ride”

Update after 2500Kms:

After clocking 2500kms bike is smooth as when purchased. Mileage is 50km/lit in city & highway mixed conditions.

An excellent bike. Not a single problem to mention.
