My bike is a Jan 2006 model Honda Unicorn Electric Start.

I did not buy this bike after much thought. Before this bike I had owned a Honda Dio which had excellent quality, performance, fuel efficiency and I knew that my next 2-wheeler would also be a Honda. The quality of Honda 2-wheelers is beyond compare. You have to just buy one to feel it.

So I exchanged my old Honda Dio for a Unicorn Electric Start Version. Needless to say I am very happy with my choice again. Let be give you a brief overview of this bike.

The first thing which we consider is

Looks: This bike dosen't have earth-shattering looks but nevertheless it looks good enough. It dosen't look aggressive but it looks smart and sharp. It is basically very gentlemanly in appearance thus appealing to older performance freaks. I think adding alloy wheels and thicker rear tyres will change the bike completely. I like the oversized tank which was available in the late-2005 early-2006 versions. Now the tank has been reduced in size. But frankly speaking I like the large tank of the older versions which reminds a person of the honda CBR series.

Unfortunately my old tank had to be replaced after an accident. That is how I came to know about the size difference between new and old version tanks. If you take all the factors into account the bike looks ok. I feel the bike is too long and that the length should be reduced a bit.

*Ride and Handling:

The bike Ride is very smooth and tirefree. The bike is very confortable for long drives. It is especially comfortable to pillion riders as they have always liked the ride on the bike with me)

*But on a serious note, the bike is very well balanced and poised due to the balanced monoshocks.

The handling is so good that even a new beginner like me could easily ride it. It is so easy to ride that you can easily make it your first bike. It turns very precisely and had it no been for those puny rear tyres we could have leaned more into turns. All in all Ride and Handling is excellent.

The bike is very silent and this prevents rider fatigue.

Durability:

What can I say its a very reliable bike and very well built. Needless to say excellent Honda quality.

I need not talk much here. All I cans say that the build is bulletproof and it will last very long. The only problem is that the tail light assembly gets very wobbly and starts making a noise after some time.

*After- Sales Service:

*This is one problem area honda must sort out before it starts loosing customers. The service is very unreliable and they don't service the bike properly at all. This is one major and great problem with Honda servicing. Pashankar Auto in Pune is the most irresponsible an notorious. In this department I will give it very less marks.

*Performance and Mileage:

*The bike manages a Good balance of both. The performance is great. I pull the bike from 30kmph in 5th Gear to 80kmph straight within a few seconds. The bike has excellent torque and one dosen't need to shift gears often.  Those upgrading from lower capacity bikes will find the performance very good. I fell the bike could easily reach above 110kmph. Mileage is sufficient for me 50kmpl because I ride very hard with high rev-ving. But an economy rider could stretch out more than 55kmpl easily. Earlier when I used to ride smoothly I always got 55-59kmpl.

*Overall:

*Excellent bike. It's so good you can buy it with your eyes closed. Go for it if you want to be a Silent Assasin!
