UNICORN........simply the BEST !!!. Review on Honda Unicorn 150 cc

Dear folks,

This is me vishnu from chennai.I hope that my following review will be useful for you peoples.I brought honda unicorn CBF150 - black+ metal logo on 21.3.2009 from KUN honda chennai.Now my bike have clocked 2500+kms and waited for all this days to give a sensible review on mouthshut.

I brought this bike after a good some of research based on both - my personal test rides on pulsar, GS150, apache 160RTR, xtreme, FZ and hunk.And users review and finally I zeroed to unicorn.

This bike was my dream bike ever since its launch in india.I got my unicorn after a long waiting of 72days  from its booking.That long lasting 72days were quite painful.I am extremly proud to be an wing rider and now I truly live my dream.

I am getting an average milage of 45KMPL.Milage may differ from person to person depending upon their  riding habits.I mostly use in busy city limits that means most of the time I need to use clutch.But I never bothered about milage and I readly compromise on milage for its comfort.The Maximum speed  till now I accelarated  on my unicorn is 110km of speed and confidently  I can say that I can attain 125km of speed easly.And completed 4 services on my bike.

LOOKS:

Looks are subjective.For me its looks are very unique and simple yet  very class, macho and sturdy.Truly big bike and its huge tank is its highlight.This bike suits only for BIG BOYS.

Pros in detail:

1.Well aerodynamic structural design.

2.The best part of the bike is its gear box and its gear shifting ratio.

3.Throttle responds.

4.Butter smooth engine and well refined robust engine.

5.Least vibration even on high speeds.

6.Least noise producing engine.

7.Good road grip.

8.Great superior suspension(mono suspension)- never felt even slightest of back pain even on long rides.

9.The brakes(both disc and drum) gaves me full control over my unicorn.Let it be 30km or 80km speed, i can bring to rest as I desired in my total control.

10.Rich instrumental panel.even though it is analog far better than error prone cheap digital speedometer.

11.maintance is absolutely headache free.

12.Responds of self starter is very good.

13.Very much highly reliable.Till date I have never encountered any problem with unicorn.

14.Highly stable even on high speeds.

15.Inshort - A perfect "ALL ROUNDER"

Cons in detail:

1.Engine gets heated up very quickly.

2.Cold start problem is very frequent.i need to use the choke almost daily.

3.Intial pick up is not best in its class.especially Acceleration on 1st and 2nd gear is very average.

4.Horn in unicorn is not satisfactory.All the bikes in its segments are with dual horns but still unicorn alone have only one single horn which is not quite louder.

5.Lack of 6th gear.Till 60km of speed its acceleration is great, but from 60-70km, the speed lags.so here an 6th gear can do wonders.but even without an 6th gear again after 70km of speed.the bike thunders and produces quick jolt of acceleration.

6.Headlight brightness is not satisfactory.

7.Handle bar is not at all sporty.itz very long in length.

8.Its huge crash gaurd kills the lookz of the bike.

9.There is no LED tail lamp.

10.Toe type gear in unicorn is very odd.they just cutted the 2nd half of usual front and back gear.Its very dissapointing.

11.Milage is very less for me(yet I dont bother)

12.Frequent error in fuel gauge reading in my bike but nothing to worry I hope it will be get fixed on my next service.

13.Last but not the least.KUN honda's worst service and customerc care.I wonder how honda india selected such ruthless and careless automobile mechanics.If you ask them to fix one problem after their idiotic service you yourself can find atleast 3 other new problems.

I will advice to give your bike to some other good mechanics than giving to honda service centre that too KUN honda in chennai.But when it comes to best bike in 150cc, summing up its pros and cons all together no doubt .UNICORN IS SIMPLY THE BEST AND A TRUE GEM AMONG ITS SEGMENT.
