After riding my friend's unicorn, I am very much impressed with the Performance and with the bike. After I started riding Uni, I felt "Oh. I made a wrong decision by buying a star city. I should have simply gone for a unicorn."

Now lets see the pros of the bike.

Its simply a sheer pleasure on riding a unicorn. Smooth smooth smooth. Nothing else. A well crafted bike. The pick up is good and it gradually goes on increasing till 100 without any jerks. What else we want? I have rode many bikes but the way unicorn performs in the mid range is very great. And to the shock of the unicorn owners, there is a other bike which outruns the unicorn in the mid range(not considering FZ and GS150R). Its the Unicorn Dazzler. But again its the same typical unicorn engine with tuned for performance. So Unicorn owners and Dazzler owners, you should be a proud person for having such a wonderful bike.

Next comes the handling and suspension. India's first bike to have a mono suspension. Thats the difference. Handles well in all roads. Provides stability and more confidence to the rider at any speeds. The 145 kg weight adds confident and it always sticks to the road. Even in 100, the vehicle is very stable. The mono suspension makes the whole weight concentrated in the center and the bike becomes very stable and the advanced diamond frame also does its job well. The path holes can be easily crossed without any jerks. Thanks to Honda for the mono suspension.

Me and my friend once went for a long ride. From Chennai to Pondicherry. 130 kms in a stretch without any stops. No tiredness, no pains and the vehicle also did not lose its power. Same level of acceleration. Engine did not got heated up. This makes the Unicorn a perfect tourer also(Next to bullet). The seat is also good both for the pillion and the rider.

The uni is also more reliable. Any time, any day, any where it does not leaves you helpless. Cold start some times becomes a problem, but it vanishes. Some may like the looks of unicorn and some may not like. But my opinion is Unicorn looks good and its a gentleman's bike. The chrome in the doom above headlight and in the side panels adds to the elegant looks of the bike. Paint quality is top class. Unicorn has a 13 litre fuel tank with a good knee recess.

The seat position is commuterish and it also accommodate big people with no problem. At the same time, I have never noticed a loss of acceleration in Unicorn. And the important part is the mileage. Getting a constant mileage of 52-55kmpl in City for the past 3 years. Thanks to Unicorn. The highest mileage achieved is 59 kmpl in Highway. These figures are really good for a 150 cc bike.

So now lets talk about the Cons.

  1. Waiting Period: A very long waiting period of Unicorn irritates the customers. Paying the money and waiting for 3 to 4 months makes many people to switch to other vehicles. In Chennai, for owing this gem, it takes 120 days. Really it is very long. Honda should take care this thing. Now after the launch of Dazzler, the unicorn waiting period gone up to 150 days.

  2. Rear brakes: My personal feel is the rear brakes are not so good. They are not helping in Panic breaking. With front discs the braking is ok. But if the front is also drum brakes, then the braking will be very poor. Thanks for Honda for waking up and providing disc brakes in Dazzler.

So these cons simply vanishes if you see the pros. And to the surprise, Honda launched a revamped unicorn and named it as CB unicorn Dazzler with added advantages like Rear disc, wider tubeless tyres, digi console and maintenance free chain and battery for an upgrade of 4000Rs. Again it has the same engine, reliability and the comfort level. So it is also a good choice. So people, Honda has provided two gem products Unicorn and the Dazzler. Both are good value for money and u can go for any one of these bikes.

So after riding my friends uni for a year, I am very much impressed and I went ahead and booked a Unicorn Dazzler as it has the same engine with some good updates. And it also is good as Unicorn.
