I am traveler by nature....so vehicles attract me like iron to magnet.Whichever new product comes in the market, be it a car or bike, I manage to gather information about it.

But now, it was my interest.I had sold my earlier bike and planned to have one.I shortlisted Pulsar 150 dtsi(after I found that it has some new mods), unicorn.

But you know what there has always been a corner reserved within me for a bullet, except I did not have money spare enough to buy it.But this time I thought I would make decision after test driving them all.

First of all I did the mistake of testing Bullet Machismo...no words what it felt like. After all a Bulet is a bullet and is compared only to other models of bullet.

And than I went to HONDA. Asked the dealer for a test ride.A black one was given to me with a guy sitting behind me. Took for a long run...it revved nicely(though it appeared like I have sat on mouse after elephant!!!)enigne was smooth, and pickup was also nice.I tried to perform some stunts so that I can get the taste of bike's character..bike amazingly was taut, fixed and totally relaxed in every corner. Sound from the engine was less, meek in a sense.Seat was comfortable,(more than pulsar, which has worst). Repeatedly I told myself:Hey shaleen calm down..after all you have driven Machismo prior to this. How can you get true feeling from this bike when you always comparing it with Bullet.

So I came to the showroom after 1 week.I thought now my perceptions would be surely different. In the similar manner, I started the test drive. But it was same as earlier one.In between I happen to drive a pulsar 150 dtsi.It didnt look that awkwardly small and meek.

I think I better note down the points I feel will make clear what I felt about Unicorn:

1 Cool pickup nice one to say the least...but Pulsar has more feel attached to it as its engine is not as refined as unicorn, and you always have a feel that something is below the tank. But I think Unicorn has more performance.

2 Ride and handlingNo contest here...unicorn wins straight.Pulsar is nowhere near to it.(monoshock also has something to do with this stability).

  1. ComfortBetter than pulsar...much better as seat is wide, you sit in a better position than pulsar, and monoshock(how much retro it may be) performs good over rough roads.

  2. Mileagecant say except what I hear from other people.Unicorn is giving 60 consistently for some.Pulsar with some ppl gives 55 and with some even 65.So I feel its even in this field.

  3. Feel and performanceHere, unicorn is disappointing.Handlebar is narrow one, feels like a splendor's(slightly bigger).Engine refinement means lesser feel to the rider...and the most important thing, it feels much smaller than pulsar while you drive it.

I couldnt digest the fact that event though unicorn is actually bigger, in every sense than pulsar, what you feel is different. Horn is like taken from a kid's toy,is hopeless.

Finally it goes down like this: Unicorn is very good product, indeed and better than pulsar if one is level minded and wants good mileage with decent, not too sporty performance. But I feel that young ppl should go for pulsar anyway as pulsar is more enjoyable to ride, and with new things added to it like fat rear tyre, gas shocks, shortened tyre dia, alloy wheels,Exhaust-tec(I dont know what hell it is!) it is a better for those who love to drive. But you should be ready to sacrifice stability(a crucial factor)a little bit.

For me, I am going for Machismo anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
