I always thought of writing this review long back, but I wanted a very comprehensive picture so I waited till I completed 5500Kms on my shine.
Now I can give a fair review of what this great bike is all about. Let me make it clear that I am not a novice regarding bikes. I have owned a splendor for more than 4 years. I loved biking and I have fairly driven many of the popular bikes. Although with splendor and pulsar I have most experience.
When I got job commuting long distances was the norm. I had to travel around 90Km as my house was far. So mileage was a constraint and so 150cc bike was ruled out.(otherwise I would be giving review abt unicorn or pulsar). Shine was the choice because I wanted a comprimise b/w power and performance. The bike fits the lot excellently. It has well let me tabulate it..............
Features:
.> Very good acceleration 0-60kmph in sharp 5.8 sec
> Good handling and ease of riding
> Very Reliable
> Puncture resistant tyres
> Sleek design and smooth riding
> 55Kmpl @ average city conditions
> Smooth riding and wat I like most is it can move consistently in 4th gear even at dead slow speeds without much gliches..................... So a bump wont mean u go TAK TAK on gears
> Honda Advantage--- Good quality assured every time
> Self start is very reliable and efficient
Disadvantages:
Although the bike is good it certainly has some problems which potential buyers must know first hand..........
> Above 70Kms the bike has a very abnormal vibration
> The gearbox makes big sound during shifting
> The gearbox sometimes(very rarely) does not engage for sometime.
> I had some trouble with electronics, specially back-light bulb...........
> Gave some trouble with mileage during city riding conditions- 40Kmpl
> Service centres(Authorised) are diffucult to find if u r planning to move to tier 2 cities.
> Even in service centers it s like an active only zone coz it sells like hot cakes but this is a rare moving thing comparatively.
>Poor gadgets I mean a speedometer and a fuel indicator is all you get............
> Poor looks(although new snickering is a refreshing change).
