I have been keenly looking at all the 'small' cars in the market. Test drove Upgraded Swift, VW Polo, Hyundai i20 and finally Honda Jazz. I liked the Swift but looking at the space it offers it really put me off !! To worsen things it had a waiting time of 3 months for Petrol and 6+ months for Diesel. So I was a little confused.. then appears a news that Honda Jazz have slashed the price by 1, 70, 000 !!! So I decided to check it out. Here is the review of it..
As soon as I saw the car I instantly liked the looks of it. As I sat inside the car I felt the car is above par in terms of Quality, spaciousness and good round view(it has the best outside viewing areas intelligently put across hence minimizing the blind curve). The rear seats come with a 40:60 split and also intelligent recline feature for people who want to take a nap on longer drives. Now comes the "Magic seats". By far it is the best feature in the car. The rear seats can be flat folded making it a flat bed to load all the stuff u need. Also if you have taller, vertical objects to be carried then the base seat can be lifted up by the touch of a button. This way you can carry tall pots or your dirty dog without soiling the seats. I don't think any small car in India has this feature of Magic seats. Coming to the boot space.. We have a winner there.. It has the best boot space for a small car - an mind boggling 386 liters !!! (New Swift has a mere 204 liters, i20 has 296 liters).. With all this my decision to buy this car was without a hesitance. So I booked the car in Bangalore and counting days as to when I would get the car..
After booking the car I started looking at the reviews of the car (when it was launched - June 2009) in NDTV car and bike show and Overdrive and every God damn article about Jazz on internet.. Everyone says its a Wonderful car.. But the price is too high !!.. Now with the 1.7 lakhs price drop I think this car is a STEAL !! I booked the car before Honda changes its mind to revert back to old price :-)))
The On Road price would be 7.4 lakhs for Jazz X..
Positive things - It think its worth it for the endless space, features(ABS, EBD, Air bags, USB/Aux connectivity, Steering audio controls etc), comfort, style, HOnda engineering, I-Vtec engine, very smooth drive, NVH levels quite low..
Negative things - Decent Fuel efficiency (i heard in city it gives around 13-14 and on highways around 16), Slightly Sluggish but not going to be a concern.
