Purchased this equipment for a home backup system, and considered everything in the catalogues like Northern Tool, etc. I decided to purchase it over the others because of the Honda engine and the sound damping. This is not an item for a building contractor who can get the same wattage without the sound concerns. I have owned this generator for about 5 years and never experienced a single mechanical problem. It performs in the worst weather to full rated output and higher. A number of tips: I always start it every six weeks and run for one minute, then shut it off by closing the fuel switch in order to run the carb dry--preventing any gummy accumulation and insuring a perfectly clean carb. I have done recommended maintenance on a couple of occasions and its no problem for a non mechanic. My neighbors love it because it is so quiet they cannot hear it even on a summer evening when people are on their decks on have open windows. This is the fifth generator I have owned over many years and the finest piece of equipment in its class.
