Around 3 months back bought Dio Scooter for wife. But mostly I am using it for office commute and short trips to nearby shops etc.

Its BS4 model and comes with Headlight Always On. Honda and many other companies claim it as AHO(Auto Headlamp ON) which is just a joke. Its nothing but direct connection of headlamp to the dynamo(Not Battery like many other bikes, so we don't need to panic that battery will get drained easily or so). But the front Daytime Running Light(Smily white light), speedo meter console light, tail lamp are directly connected to battery and will be on all time(These are low power bulbs and do not drain the battery much)

Honda claims that HET4 technology(similar to Yamaha's BlueCore) based engines are fuel efficient. Need to see in the coming months. But currently for city drive(Bangalore city) I get around 40 kmpl mileage.

  1. On-road price in Bangalore as of June 2017(Around 61000 Rs.)

  2. Accessories at Honda showroom are expensive and is better to be done outside. Even foot board mat, rubber cover for kick starter are considered as accesories.

Some of the Specifics

1.  Ride quality is Hard. While riding on good roads it is enjoyable and not good on bad roads.

2.  It comes with Combi - brake system. So even one holds rear brake the front brake also gets engaged partially.

But Brake quality is very average and is not confident inspiring to push it beyond 50 kmph.

  1. Headlight is good with good light spread and intensity.

  2. It does'nt come with foldable foot rest for rear passenger. Instead rear passenger has to rest foot in the space provided which is extension of the main foot board.

  3. Fit and finish is above average. However I find Yamaha Fascino to have better fit and finish.

  4. My scooter has done around 800 kms and my mileage is currently around 40  kmpl. It will improve after some more running in.

  5. Eventhough seat height is one of the lowest(765 mm) compared to other brands, as the seat is wide it is difficult for short people to rest foot down on ground. For short people it would be better to go for "Activa I" which has narrower seat.

  6. If you ride on average to bad roads and have back pain, neck pain etc. this is not the one. Try something else.

Note:(After around 1100 kms of usage)

I came across a video in youtube where someone has replaced the Activa rear suspension with the one of TVS Jupiter.  I tried it last week and after driving around 50 kms in different roads I feel it is much better. Cost of TVS Jupiter / Wego suspension is Rs. 1010 in Bangalore. It is a straight fit for Honda Dio. I believe it would be same for Activa too.
