Honda dio is a definate No-No. Why?
Lots of reasons:
1) First of all, its NOT a new vehicle, it has the same engine of the activa, with a new body cover
2) That engine is no great shakes. Good points are that it is smooth, but then all variomatic scooters are - the Kinetic Zoom, Nova and TVS scooty are. But the mileage of the Dio (and activa) are worse in its range. My friend gets 30kmpl on his dio.
3) Inspite of being the same scooter it is the most expensive of its class
4) BAD MILEAGE : I know I said it, but its really bad
5) Head Lamp does not turn, making it difficult. The lead lamp is ON the front panel, not like the regular ones. Hence when you take a turn, the light doesnt turn with you. This makes visibility at nights poor adn can lead to accident. (I hit a poor old lady yesterday and feel very guilty)
5) Nothing good features : Storage space less than nova, engine (102cc) less than nova (115cc), no mileage expert like in Nova
6) Skids very easily in the rain: the tires are not well suited for indian conditions. also braking is so hard that in the rain or even mud, scooter skids easily
7) looks are horrible. Looks like an alien. maybe these japanese people like it, but its hardly aerodynamic. The Nova is much better looking.
8) Dealers: think too much of themselves. Give BAD BAD BAD service and overcharge
OVERALL : I would say AVOID the dio. Stay as far from it as you can. Go for the Kinetic zoom, tried and tested excellant model, or if you want 4 stroke the Kinetic Nova. these are better lookers and performers!
