Love at First Sight. Review on Honda City ZX VTEC

I loved her at first sight. She looks so good.

Do you know, that she dresses cool. She moves so gracefully. If only she was mine, if only I can get her.

Oh! No! I am not talking of that cat-eyed babe in My BATU College. I am talking of the daughter of Mr. Honda. She is called City.

Damn neat. An all rounder car that looks great, performs great and is also priced right.

While Opel and Lancer are also head turners, Honda City is that sleek and simple babe, who just looks at you and brisks by silently, smiling, stealing your heart.

She is slightly longer, more aerodynamic. While it can be dressed to look sporty racy, I have seen it used more by executives and that too driven by chauffer. But I love this car so much that I would prefer driving it myself. So it looks more classic, stylish – an executive statement and also a status symbol.

Look at the front side. You see it slope gentle and terminate into her smiling teeth – the chrome plated teeth, that has the supreme brand symbol – “H” on it. See it from the side. No the babe is not curvy. But it doesn’t look bulky like Lancer. She sports sharp looks. The sides are more like, probably Esteem, but there is still some noticeable difference. The lights and the reflectors in them – Oh me! A look in the lights, I mean the eyes, and you are hypnotized. (Don’t look at them when it’s on or you will be blind I her love). The babe has a great a**. I mean the rear combination lights are distinctly visible and they are so nice and bright, its like having red coloured headlights at the back. The boot is pretty big. The words VTECH glisten in steel or is it also chrome plated?

The gray leather-fabric interiors are plush, better than the Lancer, much better than my Ikon but hmm not as glamorous as Opel. But it is surprisingly big and comfortable inside, with a special uniform cooling. The rear seats are the best comfort zone for 3 people with sufficient leg space and the front seats are not stiff. The car has seat belts at front and rear too. The driver seat is adjustable and the floor gears are like joystick in butter. The dashboard is shapely, the speedometer and instrumentation is appropriately placed and illuminated. Here I mention that this is one car where speedometer is often looked at. Why?

Cause it’s a speed buster. Don’t just step on the gas, you might just bang into that car 10 feet in the front. It has a whooping 100 bhp 1500 cc engine with 4 cylinders and 16 valves. The engine has VTEC technology whereby the valve lifting and closing is electronic controlled. But here it has a special cam arrangement that raises the valves higher and longer when you step on the gas at higher speeds that provides a power boost to the car. The car engine is designed to give optimum fuel efficiency at high speeds, which is what makes it more special.

Look at the other aspects – smooth suspension, quieter cabin, good braking using ventilated disc and servo brakes at the front and drum brakes at the back, side impact beams. It even has a collapsible steering protecting the driver in the event of a crash.

What does one need in a car – it’s almost all there.
