Just returned from Pashankar automobiles, Pune, where I have had a test ride of the Honda CB Dazzler.

To cut the story short, Dazzler is all hype, no show:( . While brochures look impressive, the story is a tad different when it comes to flesh.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Honda has had its taste of success with the Activa/ Dio, Unicorn and the Shine. Little did the market expect that Honda would ape Bajaj(churn out a hundred "new models" having the same engine). With competition like the YZF/ Fazer, Pulsar, GSX150 and the CBZ Xtreme, Honda better not pull such cheap tricks on the Indian bikers'blessed' with fortune of being content with sub-300cc "Performance bikes" - one word - C R A P.

LOOKS: Dazzler is not even a befitting cosmetic upgrade to the fabled Unicorn. Remove the side cowls of the Dazzler, and VOILA, you have got yourself a bike that looks and feels crap. Honda has overdone the plast-icky gimmick this time.

RIDE QUALITY AND ERGONOMICS: I have to admit that ride quality is quite enjoyable due to Unicorn genes. The monoshock and seating position make mile munching pleasurable. Front disc is excellent while rear disc is spongy and does not offer any feedback(thus not scoring over bikes with rear drums). Instrumentation is typical Honda- well laid within reach. Digital speedo cluster design is novel and likeable.

SAFETY: No leg guard, no saree guard - while the latter is pardonable, the former is not. An accident would mean bearing all weight on the poor hind limbs.

FUEL EFFICIENCY: Am sure Unicorn genes would mean consistent 50+ kmpl figure. Ideal for the size and power of the bike.

FUN FACT: Honest observation - while in the driver's seat, have a look at the side cowls(top view). It looks just like batman ears / starship wings!

FINAL WORDS: Good bike if your expectations do not soar beyond point A to point B transport. Anything beyond, AVOID.
