Hai, I have bought a Honda CB Trigger DLX(dual disc option) on 29th August 2014. Earlier I have decided to write a review on this bike in Mouthshut only after completing 4000kms. But now I have decided against it just to inform people who are looking to buy this bike about its cons so that they wont get fooled. I have completed only 650kms in this bike till now and first service is still pending.

My first impressions on this bike are as follows:

Things I like about this bike:

  1. The Braking of this bike is excellent thanks to dual disc brakes. Apply both brakes simultaneously and the bike wont skid under hard braking. It is very stable under hard braking and takes very less time to get stopped.

  2. It is very easy to handle and control this bike in traffic and round the corners even with a pillion rider. The bike is very agile and it twists and turns swifty like a light weight 100cc bike does.

  3. It gives me a good mileage of 54kmpl driving in city and highway. Economical rev range is 3500-4000rpm range. You can ride this bike in 20kmph in 4th gear and 30kmph in 5th gear comfortably without engine knocking and with slight chain snatching only.

  4. It is a very comfortable bike for long drives. It wont cause any pain to your body parts.

  5. Bike is very good looking and has got contemporary styling, even though it does not look as sexy as a FZ or Pulsar 200NS.

  6. This bike has got modern features like fully digital speedometer, LED tail lamps, mono suspension, wide tubeless tyres, dual disc brakes and Combination Braking System as options. It lacks an engine kill switch

Things I dont like about this bike:

  1. Paint Quality, Build quality and fit and finish of the bike is very poor. Body parts are made of cheap quality plastics and are very brittle and will break very easily. After 3 days of use, headlight visor came loose because of vibration making harsh noise in riding and I had to make it fit properly. Seat does not fit properly to the body and there is a large gap in between the seat and body panel especially in the rear side which can only be rectified only by using a seat cover. This kills the otherwise good looks of this bike. There is rattling sound from the seat body panels, headlight visor, instrument cluster etc. Overall appearance of my bike gives it an impression of a 2 yr old bike. Shining of the paint has gone. Even Bajaj and TVS produce better quality bikes than this crap. I am totally disappointed after spending 80k for buying this piece of junk.

  2. Pick up and acceleration of the bike is very poor. There is a considerable slowness especially in lower rev range below 3000rpm. Engine becomes unrefined once you cross 4500rpm mark. There are a lot of vibrations after that and you can feel the rattling sound made by body parts after that. Gear shifting quality is also very poor. Its hard to put the gear even after disengaging the clutch fully. Gears tend to get locked up very often under quick and swift downshifting.

  3. Engine can only be started using a choke if you dont use the bike even for 7 hours in day time. Temperature is moderate here.

Final Verdict

Buy this bike only if you want a contemporary looking stylish commuter bike with good fuel efficiency & modern features and nothing else.

Never buy this bike if you are an enthusiast and loves performance driving.

Never buy this bike if you want a sturdy and well built bike.

Better option is to go for Yamaha FZ which is a much much better bike than this in all aspects, if you can spend Rs 500-1000 extra every month for petrol expenses.
