Known for its fuel-efficient and durable machines, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India(HMSI) has now finally launched its much-awaited 160cc sports commuter bike in India. Called as Honda CB Hornet 160R, the bike comes in two variants that are - Single Disc and Dual Disc with CBS.


It gets its power from 162.71cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled 4-stroke SI engine with Honda Eco Technology(HET) that comes linked to 5-speed gearbox. It uses a Wet Multi-plate clutch assembly system. The mill generates a maximum power of 14.5bhp at 8000 rpm along with a peak torque of 14.61Nm at 6000 rpm. The mill has a compression ratio of 10:01 and a power oriented bore x stroke ratio of 57.3 mm x 63 mm.


Honda CB Hornet 160R is inspired from the CX-01 concept bike, which was unveiled at Auto Expo last year. The fuel tank of the bike comes with a muscular cowl that features the Honda's wing symbol over it. The bike also sports halogen Headlamps, front mudguard in Dual-tone shade, split grab rail, single piece seat, LCD digital meter, Midship exhaust unit, and the rear furnished with an X-shaped tail light and a wide tyre.


It is bolted on a tubular diamond frame. Further, it is equipped with a reliable disc brake at both, front and rear ends, respectively along with a Honda's CBS(Combi Braking System). Its suspension system comprises of Telescopic Fork at the front and Spring Loaded Hydraulic Type(Monoshock) at the rear. It rides on 17-inch wide tubeless tyres at both, front and rear ends, respectively, which are fitted over stylish alloy wheels.


Design


Honda CB Hornet 160R is designed while keeping in mind the concept of CX-01, which was first showcased in 2014 Auto Expo. The front profile of the bike is equipped with an edgy halogen headlamp section at the front with clear lens turning indicators. Further, it has a dual tone shade front mudguard and muscular fuel tank. Its fuel tank is precisely chiselled which look amazing with the tank shrouds and offers an excellent riding posture to the rider. The bike comes with a single split seat that proves itself as a handy feature to the rider as well as pillion. Coming to the rear, It has an X-shaped tail light and LED tail lights. Its instrument console is purely digital which consists of speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, odometer, fuel gauge and low fuel and oil indicator lights.


Engine & Performance


Honda CB Hornet 160R is powered by the same engine that used to serve Honda CB Unicorn. It houses a 162.71cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled 4-stroke SI engine with Honda Eco Technology(HET) that is mated to 5-speed gearbox. The bike uses a Wet Multi-plate clutch assembly system to transmit the power to the rear wheels. The motor churn out 14.5bhp of power at 8000 rpm and 14.61Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. It comes with a compression ratio of 10:01 along with a power-oriented bore x stroke ratio of 57.3 mm x 63 mm.


Ride & Handling


Honda CB Hornet 160R is designed on a tubular diamond frame. It runs on 17-inch wide tubeless tyres that are mounted over elegant alloy wheels. The braking duties are carried out by drum brakes at both, front and rear end. Furthermore, the bike is furnished with a suspension system that includes telescopic forks at the front and spring loaded hydraulic type(mono shock) at the rear. To enhance the braking ability, the company has also configured the bike with a Honda’s CBS(Combi Braking System).


Safety Features


Honda CB Hornet 160R is furnished with a 12V 35/35W halogen headlamp that illuminates the road well in nights and dark areas. Braking power is provided by reliable drum brakes at both, front and rear ends, respectively. Further, the bike comes with a Honda’s Combi Braking System(CBS) that enhance the braking ability and ensures a safe ride for the rider as well as pillion.
