Today I had an opportunity to test drive the Honda Brio V MT high end model. Its simply superb. I did test drive with a sales girl from TVS Sundaram Honda in Mount Road Chennai. She was patiently explaining me the differences of features in different ends.
Brio comes in 4 ends and basic EMT comes for 4.72 lacs on road in Chennai. High End VMT goes for around 6.12 lacs on road with Airbags, ABS, Music system, All door power windows, Alloy Wheels, etc. The one thing I loves is the butter smooth steering. The moment I cranked the engine, there was no noise from inside even though I had my windows open. The moment I released the clutch, the vehicle moved back in reverse gear without any jerks. Was good to drive.
I know the mechanics and sales persons would have set any test drive cars in that way, but still the ride was a quality one.
As per the sales girl Bhagya Lakshmi, who accompanied me in the test drive, assures 13 to 14 kmpl in City with AC on and 20+ kmpl with AC on in highways when I drive conservatively ( may be 80-90 kmph max, no rash drives). I asked her about the maximum speed, she said it goes till 140 kmph and after that it starts wobbling and I would get a mileage still of 17-18 kmpl with that kind of rash drives till 140 kph, which I apparently won't.
Overall experience with the test drive thing was ok. 1200 CC car with all features in basic model itself (EMT, 4.72 lacs on road, front power windows, Power Steering, AC), SMT for around 5.19 lacs, the next level with Music System and all 4 windows powered. S(O)MT with optional Alloy Wheels and VMT with all features I mentioned in the beginning and the vehicle which I test drove.
The only concern is the rear look which is little annoying, but not that much.
5 lacs for a 1.2L engine hatchback would be a good deal.
