I bought a brand new Activa in July 2007. I have used it for about 5000 Kms, here is my experience of using it for one year.
Purchase : : I bought my activa from Dhruvdesh Motors, Bangalore. But from what I have heard this is the case with almost all the dealers sellign activa. U ask for the quotation and the quotation is given along with accesories and if u refuse to buy the accessories they refuse to sell the vehicle. They insist that u buy the accessories (metal guards, rubber sheets, indicator bleaters, front luggage box ..) from them.
Price/Quality of the accessories : The lesser the said the better. It is the same stuff that u get in the open market but only priced about 50% to 60% higher. So when I asked why the price difference, I was told stories about superior quality. The quality of the metal guards came to forefront after the first few monsoon showers. All the metal accessories rusted and when I complained the plain and cool answers were 1) No Guarantee on accessories 2) U have not taken good care to protect the accessories
Mileage : about 32Km/Ltr avg. Best 35Km/Ltr. So, now u might be able to guess how it pinches ur pocket. My Pulsar DTSI 180cc gives me about 48Km/Ltr avg.
Riding Comfort: U will see most of the guyz riding activa sitting on the pillion seat as ur back pains if u sit on the front seat, it is very uncomfortable to sit on the front seat and ride. Probably the vehicle was designed from females and the comfortable height calculated was around 5ft to 5.4ft. Before I bought the vehicle I used to think that it was fashion, but now I have realised that its the only way to get some comfort.
Plastics & Fuel tank : After one year the plastics start making strange sounds and as the fuel tank is below the seat refuelling is always painful.
My Opinion : This may be a good vehicle if u r not taller than 5.4ft and u have loads of money to keep refuelling.
