Love at first sight - Activa. Review on Honda Activa

I am residing at Chennai and have bought the silver colour activa from Kun Motorcycles in Adyar. After giving much thought on Sym Flyte, I decided to go for it. Though I have never ridden a two wheeler before, except cycle, I am not sure about how it should be, but I am very happy with Honda Activa's performance. I got it delivered on the 29th of March, 2008 and till now have driven 212 kms.

Every morning it really starts like an angel, giving me no troubles at all. The mileage I am getting right now is around 42 kms / litre, which is pretty decent.

The handling has been tough for me initially, as the vehicle seemed to be very heavy, atleast to me as a first timer to two wheelers, but now it is absolutely set to my comfort, and I find it no problems at all to put it up on the main stand even.

The mirrors were loose at the beginning, which I fixed myself, using the tool kit provided by Kun. Infact, one day I drove around 25 kms with the choke on, but I didn't notice it, or it didn't complain at all.

Though I am using kick start in the morning and then I use the self starter throughout the day.

The best part is the engine, which makes very less sound and the vehicle is so smooth and stable even at high speeds. The seat is really large making one comfortable sitting on it.

I would highly recommend this vehicle to all readers of this review of mine.

[Feb 09] I am about to complete one year with my Activa, and I would like to share that it has only increased my love for it. Now it gives a mileage of around 47 and I am very comfortable with it. After the third servicing, the vehicle is really smooth with very good brakes and high pickup acceleration. I am using Shell's super unleaded petrol throughout. I use it to travel to my office everyday in Chennai, and that is around 25 kms from my home. So, everyday I use to travel more than 50 kms on my Activa. It has never given me any trouble as of date. Even the tyres are from MRF and they are extremely good. I have not encountered flat tyres by now. Though I travel through really bad roads. The service center is also doing well with my vehicle. I am quite satisfied with Kun's service atleast for my Activa. I met with accident twice during this one year and both the times, they took full responsibility and I easily got my insurance claims. I would still strongly recommend Activa to all users. All the best.

[Apr 11] I can't stop writing this because, I have completed 1 year and have done 4th service of the vehicle. Slowly it is amaizing me more and more day by day. Now I am getting an average mileage of more than 55 Km per litre, with the best raising as high as over 60 Km per litre. I travel in the busiest streets of Chennai, as my office is over 25 kms away from my home, and I use my activa everyday. I have travelled 13100 kms so far, and the smoothness of the vehicle is really to be noticed. Though I can admit on the shock absorber part, it is really not comfortable at all. Apart from that, even handling is pretty okay with me. The biggest advantage being the large petrol tank of 6 litres capacity, for which I need to fillup the tank once a week. This is something incredible and forced me to add to my review. I will keep you friends posted, with any further updates that I observe on my Activa.

[Jan 06, 2010] I have crossed 27000 kms with my Activa now and am so much used to it that I forgot walking. Even to go to the nearest shop, I use it. It is like a walking stick to me. I am so comfortable in it, and it has never ever let me down. The mileage I am getting right now is awesome, around 57 - 58 kmpl, sometimes it shoots upto 60 kmpl. I am using Shell's super unleaded petrol and I never change the brand. The engine is even more smoother. I think, there is no competitor to this vehicle. I heard the new Honda Activa and Aviator with the 109 cc engines are even better. But, I am yet to explore them, as I am too much content with my vehicle for the time being. I do servicing every 4000 kms or 3 months whichever is earlier. I have changed the rear tyre, because it looked like it was getting flatter, with the grips getting reduced. But I have never ever encountered puncture or any sorts of disruptions. I am proud of my choice. Wishing all the readers the very best in choosing the correct vehicle.
