We went to the Marathalli home town and bought a microwave and a refrigerator. We were also interested in a mixer but the sales guy told that it was out of stock and they would deliver the mixer with the other two and collect cash. This is where the good experience ends
The delivery guys called 2 days late and asked for directions. To my surprise, they showed up only with the microwave. There was supposed to be a free starter kit with the micro wave which was missing and the refrigerator of our choice was out of stock and expected in 2 days. Nobody knew anything about the mixer
We waited for 2 days and started calling. The 2 number they give are always busy or just ringing. Finally when I reached them they promised to deliver the next Saturday. We waited for the better part of saturday and started calling late afternoon. After about 25 tries they promised to deliver on sunday.
They didn't even bother to call on Sunday and we weren't surprised. When we started calling back the answers were evasive. The customer support guys would not even ask our name or PO number or phone number, they would spontaneously say 2 days or we will call you back. When I asked them whom will they call back, then they ask for the phone number, still don't care about PO number.
After several such 2 days, we had to visit hometown again and asked for a cancellation. The floor manager pleaded for just 1 more day, we refused and got it canceled. The floor managers argument is "since you have waited so long 1 more day doesn't matter". They said our credit card will be credited the difference amount in 5 days.
3 day later a senior sales manager called and asked me to reconsider and he will ship the refrigerator in 3 days. I rejected his offer and asked him to send our refund. If I had listened to the floor manager I would have been taken for a ride again.
10 days after getting the order canceled we are still waiting for the refund. Now we have a direct number to call the floor instead of the customer support. The chase is on for the refund now. I have to pay for the credit card now and continue the chase for my refund.
For all those who think you get a great deal in Hometown, **I bought the same refrigerator make and model for Rs 450 less and had it delivered the same day from an old proven shop.
The only mistake I did was not to check this review before going to hometown. I believe hometown's days are numbered. They certainly lost a lot of business from me as I have just started setting up a home in Bangalore
