You expect moon when you saunter in to see HOME DELIVERY, but when you come out of the theatre, you're disappointed big time! The film was promoted as being different because apparently it talks about Pizza delivery with some lighter moments. But the first question that you would want to ask after you've watched this disaster is, What kind of cinema is this?Director Sujoy Ghosh returns with his second outing after Jhankaar Beats but this time he has missed the target and how!

Story

Oh gosh, story is actually the hardest part to write up in this review. Halfway in the film, I almost lost track of what was happening.

The film opens in ST.marry's school with singing practice among students.Vivek's sister is also studyng in the same school .She is sad coz her brother is not going to attend the Diwali festival this time around.

Coming to Vivek Oberoi,he is a writer popularly known as '' Gyan Guru'', writing for the Times of Hindustan. Vivek also managed to bag a prestigious screenplay writing project for film director, Karan Johar. He believes he is a self-made man and that whatever he has achieved in life is due to his own hard work and nobody else's.This is also refelected in his views about marriage to his fiancée Ayesha Takia. But the treatment of these sequences are way too slow!

To make matters worse ,we are supposed to go through so called funny antics of Saurabh Shukla [Bramhachari-Bachelor] and Tiku Talsania [Mad Singer!] who are living in the same flat as that of vivek.

Actual drama takes place when he is invited to a chat show where he gets a chance to meet his fav actress Mahima Chowdhary .He is in a love with Mahima from his childhood .Mahima too falls for charm [?] of vivek ......

Another track is that of Boman Irani who is optimistic about life whose brain is as innocent as a child .He has recently landed job as a pizza delivery boy at Mummy's Pizza. Boman has sort of an inclination to lose every job he has ever had in 2 days flat.Story takes a turn when Boman delivers a pizza to Vivek....

What follows are series of senseless and baseless situations....Finally Mahima goes with Koran Johar and Vivek is fit with Ayesha. The drama ends with Happy Diwali song!

The storyline in the film is as tired and overused as it sounds. There are no worthwhile surprises in the film, and it’s easy to predict the outcomes of various situations based on similar movies in the past. Without any suspense, the drama in the film is stripped of all its power and entertainment-value. Director Sujoy has handled certain moments with aplomb, but as a writer, he relies too heavily on the tried-and-tested formula to convey the story.

If the first half of the film is slightly tolerable ,second half is not even that!Post interval portions drag and drag before reaching its much needed destination-THE END!

On the script level, the film has so many loopholes

-To cite instances, when Ayesha goes away from vivek's life, no effort is made by Vivek to stop her. But in the very next scene he starts to cry in the name of Ayesha! This looks absolutely far-fetched!Prior to that, the sequence between Mahima and Vivek looks abrupt. In his very first meeting, she proposes dating to him and surprisingly, he doesn't rule out the possibility either.Even the antics of Saurabh Shukla are anything but funny!

In the pre-climax, Boman Irani's past does not evoke any sympathy whatsoever! It adds to the length of the film and makes the goings-on dreary.Even the climax involving Diwali festival is hardly sensitive. For, the hero suddenly breaks down and admits his fault. A more appropriate ending could've been thought of.

The first half does provide some relief where the viewers are treated with some hilarious scenes -Vivek’s interaction with Ayesha ,telephone conversation between Juhi and Vivek regarding the job ,the sequence between Mahima ,Saurabh and serial killer when they are trapped in a haunted house! But that's it!

Vivek is just about ok. The role required an actor of calibre and though Vivek tries hard, he does not succeed. In the first half specially, he looks awkward and ill-at-ease

Mahima livens up the film with her hamming. That charm of pardes and freshness of Dhadkan are just not there.More importantly ,she does not look glamorous from any angle so vital for the role in question .The rising and falling of her sarees is in bad taste!

Boman Irani tries his level best to rise above the non-existent screenplay, but the daunting task of saving the film single-handedly proves too difficult even for him.

And now, the biggest highlight of film, Ayesha! It wouldn’t be wrong to say that she is the life of this lifeless film.Despite insignificant role , she emerges a winner and steals the show with her vulnerability and sweetness. . Those deep green eyes and that sweet, mellow voice are absolute delight!

Karan Johar is way too dumb .The pre-climax when he tries to flirt with Mahima generates some good laugh! The rest of the cast pitch in with ropey performances.Abhishek Bachchan ,Sunil Shetty ,Riteish Deshmukh ,Naseerudin Shah are all big waste!

Technically the film is all over the place. Camera angles and cinematography are good, the film mostly takes place indoors and the interiors are stylish. Lighting is here and there, some scenes are very poorly lit, and others are uneven.

Choreography is tacky, especially those dream songs between Mahima and Vivek .

Editing needs work in the second half. The ''Serial killer'' angle could´ve been removed, all the light, frivolous stuff should have been toned down. That way the film would move on a single track and would get to the point faster. The dialogues are a major letdown with inane lines and clichés especially 'Bedroom Mein Chalein'.

Musically the film is good although weak compared to Jhankar Beats.

Sujoy Ghosh -the director should take a long break and come back with a subject that really fires him up... instead of doing something that he supposes that the audience wants from him. Disappointing saga!
