~* The Theory of Eternal Recurrence *~

Originality:

The theory of eternal recurrence; I learnt of it from a book/ magazine (I really can’t remember which one…me and my goldfish memory). It had me confused, half expecting the writer to go on describing some complicated mathematical formula in which the answer always gets repeated. But it got simplified into something much more understandable: It basically means that you should live every moment of your life in such a way, that if you had to live that moment again and again for the rest of eternity it would still be a good thing.

I spend so many moments of my life listening to music. I doubt a single day passes when I’m not listening to songs from the past, the present and the some-kind-of-future (like if the movie hasn’t released). And as those melodic melodies and harmonious harmonies glide through my ears and touch my heart, I know that moments like those I’d live repeatedly till infinite. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was searching for something new to listen to, when I came across the music of Holiday, the new Pooja Bhatt venture. And even though Prasiddha tells me this movie is going to flop, and even though I know its going to flop, I’m going to like it…because it has three of my favourite things in it: Goa, dancing and Dino Morea! :D The music is by Ranjit Barot. It’s of a different kind, not something I’d usually listen to because it doesn’t have any fast dance numbers or typical filmi tracks! But its been done to fit in with the dancing of the film – Latino music. So here are the songs:
:::Khwaahishyon Se:::
It’s smooth, slow, yet melodious…and you can feel how the dance theme fits in with it. You can even hear the sound of the waves and some Caribbean calls at the beginning. Listen to Shreya reach those notes of eternal bliss with her beautiful voice, she is really a wonderful singer. And so in her partner in rhyme of this duet – Kunal Ganjawala! I think it’s my favourite song from the whole album, because of its composition and https://lyrics.
Khwaahishyon se yeh suna hai/ Pyaar humko ho raha hai
Tumhi to ho voh sapna jokha hai jee bhi liya hai
Tumhi to ho voh lamha jo ab zindagi ban gaya hai
::: Aashiyaan :::
Ranjit Barot is as good a singer as he is music director! He sings alongside Miss Ghoshal, yet again, in this song. This is also another light, fresh sort of track, different from most of the music that is out these days. It has faster background beats than the previous track. This is why it sounds quicker, even though the singing is at the same pace. The track reminds me of summer days, fresh fruit juices and cool breezes…so if you like that sort of thing, then give it a listen! But then again, all the songs have that similar theme. Aakhir holidays ki baat hai!
:::Neele Neele:::
Neela aka blue; my favourite colour… Blue skies, blue waters and definitely not a blue atmosphere! The lyrics are so poetic and sweet; I especially like the line which goes “saagar se seekho to khwaahish kyaa hoti hai…” This is Shreya Ghoshal’s hat trick song in the album, and we still can’t get enough of her voice. By this third song you will have realised that this album is one of a kind, and its not going to match your typical Bollywood music genre. Well, it’s good to be different and good to have a change once in a while :)
:::Move With my Body:::
There is something about Dominique Cerejo’s voice which I like, after listening to Jhoom from Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena. But I didn’t really like this song, as the start reminds me too much of Halka Halka from Chocolate, with the whole “behka behka sa yeh sama”. It’s a westernised track, with both Hindi and English lyrics, and a singer with a voice like that!
:::Tu Hai Bhatakta Jugnu Koi:::
This song has a very Spanish feel to it. For some reason I like the lyrics of this song, but not much else. Apart from Shreya’s voice, but I’ve already mentioned that enough times. :)
:::Raqs Kar Le:::
And the amazing singer of the century Shaan sings this song (wow, that’s like a tongue-twister). But I didn’t like that random person’s voice doing a silly speech in the middle of Shaan’s so-called solo! Somewhere or the other this song reminds me of The Time of my Life from Dirty Dancing. And I even think this movie is going to be a lot like that one, just hope it’s not overly influenced!
:::Tauba:::
This is the heartbreaking song, rendered so well and sung by the same person – Ranjit Barot. There’s a flute playing faintly in the background and I think that makes the piece so effective. So if you’re in a sad mood, or want something mood-filled and relaxing to listen to, then this is the song for you.
:::Aashiyaan - Remix:::
Ok, so the soundtrack isn’t that far away from Bollywood, coz it still has the remix factor. Why?! Hmmm, I wonder how much money remix “artists” make. I’d love to be one, make dosh out of adding faster beats, some rubbish and random inane whispers and non-desi lyrics everywhere :P
:::Sound of the Future:::
Nice way to finish the album, by a musical looking into the future. Its really cool music, very salsa-ish and danceable to (if you can do salsa that is :P). It’s a great way to sum up the music of the whole album, because its got elements from each of the tracks listed above.
So “come fall in love…with your self”, as the movie says. In the New Year have faith in others, but most importantly have faith in yourself…the skies are the limit!
Technically you all could have skipped the above and read the following….because the real reason I wrote this review is to wish all of you a...
PS- Now’s the point where you leave me a comment saying “Wish you the same!” otherwise I might feel offended. And you wouldn’t want to upset someone on the last day of 2005, would you? :P
PSS- If you want to read a decent end-of-year review then read Chandra’s latest….its so sweet….and its dedicated to moi! :P
