What is it that I could say that hasn't already been said about Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. For a novice like me, who must have read just about 150 books so far, this book is like a revelation of sorts. I was completely floored and in awe of the excellent writing style laced with some good ol sarcasm.

The book, I felt, is not so much about the destination or rather a defined conclusion than it is about the journey. By journey I mean the writing style, the nuanced comedy and the grandiose of the plot.

The characters are not well defined and truly it serves the story. The unpredictability of the characters is something I started looking forward to after the first few chapters. Special mention of the character Zaphod Beeblebrox who doesn't fail to amuse every single time and you grow to love his eccentricity. Since this is just the first installment I am unable to give an overview of the entire series but two books down and I am still hooked. This says a lot because I have a very short attention span.

For those in two minds about reading Hitchhiker's solely because the novel seems huge in size, I say give it a try and I guarantee you will return asking for more.
