I saw the Hitch when it was released.

The Plot

Alexander Hitchens, (Will Smith) lives in New York City. He says he is a Secret Date Doctor and that means he is a matchmaker and he loves his job. If you employ him he guarantees that he will find you the mate you have been dreaming of in only three dates.

When Albert Brennan, (Kevin James), a fat slob hires him to find him a date for Valentines Day. Albert works for the company that handles Allegra Cole, (Amber Valleta) money.

Albert meets Allegra at a board meeting and falls in love with him. She is a socialite and is always being written up in the tabloid news papers.

That's not how Hitch planned it. He can take solace that he had coach Albert to show his best traits.

Sara Melas, (Eva Mendes) a tabloid writer, decides to look into Hitchs background. What she finds out makes the front page and she is the only one who has written about it. It's a scoop!

What I thought

I felt like I was watching a romantic film of the 1960's. Will Smith tries his best to make this not a cheesy film, but it still felt artificial and a bit too cutesy.

The script writer may be the ones who over wrote the conversations, (he should try writing for Improv Theater to write for a guy like Will). Will is better when he can roam around doing what he does best.

Can you imagine being in New York where all the streets a clean and a cab will come as soon as you want on? Only in Hitch!

The movie picks up its pace as they scramble around trying to scrape their dignity off the ground, and Albert has a great scene in which he battles a magazine stand.

I liked the throwback to a Fresh Prince Dance Party right before the closing credits.

Men will like the physical parts and women will find it cute.

My Conclusion

I was easy to watch and you didn't have to think about the terrible things happening in the World.

Lucky you, you can rent it. It's good enough for that.
