I visited this hospital recently as a visitor for my uncle who was admitted here for special treatment.
Wat happened is, my paternal uncle(Chittappa) was sleeping and suddenly he felt something bit him in the Under arms and he woke up and saw a centipede(Pooran in English or Baby Snake) fall off from his baniyan. Then he stood up and just walk a few steps and suddely Fainted and fell down.
paternal mother(Chitti) called for an ambulance from HMH but they said it would take time, so its better u bring him in auto. It was Sunday, so no auto were available, so called a call taxi and he arrived in less than 10 min. then they reached and admitted him at the Hindu Mission Hospital.
The Funny thing my paternal mother explained to us is, the doctor could even understand wats the cause of the situation and calls it am Heart Attack! But my Clearly felt a centipede bite and he saw is crawling out the his Baniyan! I mean the Doctors there so careless and Dumb!
Then he was kept at ICU(Intensive Care Unit) for 2 to 3 day, and that when we Visited the hospital to see him!. Well just like other hospitals No one else is allowed to enter the ICU facility except the patients Spouse or Kid! So we went there but could not see him(but somehow my mom alone sneaked into the Facility and saw him). The Corridor or seating place outside the ICU facility is a MESS. Just looked like Tea Shop with 2 broken benches(But no Tea Stall) and their wer around over 30 people waiting to see their relatives! All Standing under Sun and tired.
So we let the ladies to sit there and we(me, my bro and other men relatives) decide to go to some shop outside.
The place outside the ICU complex is too very Dirty!! Stagnated water so that mosquitoes can breed there. No care Taken.
Even at night my Parental mom had to sleep in the corridor and no resting place is given to them too! Atrocious.
Then After 3 Days, we was transferred to a normal in patient room which is at the next building and after 3 days it was very difficult to find him there and no one else helped us. We only found the room with the help of phone conversation!
The Room was ugly just similar to the royapettai Govt hospital. Even room can be accepted but the corridor, oh god, a dirty mess place. No Lights, No seats and even no ventilation. It looked like I was into a "Horror Movie". Very terrifying.
Then after a weeks, he discharged and we only helped him to reach him home since we had the car. the hospital has Car parking facility which is the only good thing I noticed but bikes have to been outside the premises only.
Pros -
1) Very Cheap hospital. Those working is govt org with low salary can get treatment here without payment worry. This is the only best thing I noticed when compared to other looting hospitals like Malar or Apollo.
2) Easy location at heart of Tambaram.
3) Large room capacity, over 200 I guess. Rooms vary from AC or non AC rooms.
4) Hospital is equipment with most of latest basic equipment technologies like ICU, scans, etc.
5) The hospital has inner car parking facility which many hospital dont.
6) Ambulances available(see cons).
Cons -
1) place outside hospital compound wall, corridors and rooms are very dirty and smelly.
2) Canteen is there, but the food is very bad.
3) ICU facility is maintained worst wrt to visitors. Even the spouse of the patient gets no respect here and has to suffer!
4) Ambulance is there, but they take very long time to arrive and even charge for it!
5) The arrival of reports are done late. have to wait long!
6) Most doctor are very dumb and ignorant.
Verdict - Overall, a good hospital for people earning less money becoz the treatment is cheap here. But the hospital really need is - Cleanliness, maintenance and renovation!
