The sad story of Mahie Arora. Review on Heroine Movie

Just back home after watching the much hyped Madhur Bhandarkar Movie HEROINE. To be honest I went to the theatre with least expectations. As already the reviews were out on the TV. But I was surprised! I liked the movie very much! I liked it for its simplicity in telling the tale of Mahi Arora. I loved it for the spotless beauty and excellent performance of Kareena Kapoor. I would say this is her best! Yes, I have seen Chameli. But this is it!

The story is simple and much told. But the treatment is different and rather subtle. An actress who wants happiness and success in her life fails miserably because of her lack of practicality and tactfulness. She can be manipulative at times but she is not a vamp. And this is what touched me. It was as if a story of any girl who has her career, love life and ambitions. Unlike Madhu Bhandarkar's earlier movie FASHION , this is not the story of the film industry as a whole but it is the story of Mahie Arora one heroine.

Mahie loves Aryan (played by Arjun Rampal) who is a big star. Mahie is obsessed about him. She can do anything for him but Aryan is a practical person. Who is conscious of his image and is under stress as he is going through messy divorce. They both fight and he throws her out of his car! Mahie is shattered but she gathers herself and now a young vibrant cricketer Angad (Randeep Hooda) enters her life. Angad is head over heels in love with Mahie. Mahie uses him for publicity and manipulates him for getting roles.  But eventually she is also attracted towards him. What happens then? whom she chooses? I won't tell... you watch the movie for the answer.

Performances:

Kareena Kapoor: Already told you she's outstanding in this film. Her face is transparent. You can see all her emotions.

Arjun Rampal: I am sorry Arjun but you could not do justice to this role. This man was quite complicated. Arjun has his limitations in emoting. His face is quite blank most of the times. And he looks tired. I also wonder why such a good looking man like Mr. Rampal looks to ordinary in this movie!

Randeep Hoopa: In one word show stealer. He was unbelievably good in his role. He even dominates Kareena Kapoor in their scenes together. People laugh with him and choke with emotions when he cries. Randeep and Kareena shares a great chemistry too.

The others: Sanjay suri, Shahana Goswami and Ranvir Shorey were good. Helen couln't do much but was believable.

Music

The music is very good. Specially the songs Khwaishein and Saaiyaan are awesome. And melodious and  takes the movie ahead. Halkat Jawani is a big hit!

My conclusion:

Heroine might not be excellent but it is a good movie. Go and watch it in theaters!
