Hero Honda is the largest manufacturers of two-wheelers in the World. It recently launched a newly developed, power packed Super Splendor which is amazing, a long awaited 125cc machine. This is 125cc not 100cc mind you, as far as 125cc bikes are concerned, A 125cc bike can never match the fuel efficiency of 100cc economizer bikes but the splendid Super Splendor is different and has just blasted the barrier with 125cc Super Splendor. Amazing hah or Splendid, find out.......???

STYLE AND ITS BUILD:

As far as its style are concerned, pretty decent not like that compared to googly Fazer and bubbly Discover, what I liked about it was its front large bikini fairings, which has its screw exposed out just like Pulsar and other bikes.

The tank is same as that type of splendor but only with 2 liters of more petrol that can be added in it for longer distance. It has a rectangular clear lens, multi-reflector Halogen lamp which houses a pilot lamp too. The fairing is almost the type of Unicorn, you could point it out if you see it from front.

The side panels are all new, at the rear, a semi-hexagonal tail lamp of 21w bulb is stylish and of clear lens type and rear grab rail is Chrome plated with a rubber grip in the middle. The Chasis is that type of Splendor, the same dual double cradle with non-adjustable rear hydraulic shock absorber. The front quality is too excellent, I was impressed with its front part but it was not looking nice on the advertisement, but mark me it is nice and even better and it will attract you.

The new classy dash is quality, contemporary and sign of Trademark, while there's no Tachometer, but it has a Speedometer with Trip-Meter in the middle and on either side it houses Fuel Gauge and High beam & Neutral light and on the top either side of Speedo, there exists a tell-tale light with arrows.

All new switchgear is that of quality trademark and all switches and metres are neatly done. the switch gear consists a pass light, Push type cancel indicator, Push type high & Low Beam light first in any bike are all exceptional except no engine kill switch, all these are on the left Handle-Bar.

The metres are easy to read and user friendly due to large fairings and not like that of Discover with red & least impressive Gray-Scale. Ride Quality is exceptional and best in its class and handling is v.good with extremely confidence-inspiring cornering though with smaller 2.75x18 tires. Well done HH!..

ENGINE, PERFORMANCE,ERGONOMICS & BRAKING:

On the ergonomics front, HH have done a great job for riders as well as pillion pleasures. The Super Splendor is dream to ride both in city&traffic and on the Highways, no pains and bumps, easy does she goes. I had my father at back and surprisingly, the bike was not opting out it was completely in my control.

The all new 125cc horizontally laid engine, Quantum core engine is a ground-up design and features a die-cast aluminum head with cast iron cylinder liners and uses needle roller bearing to reduce friction, on the rocker arms & Shaft, piston is tin coated as the sales man said to me in order ot reduce friction, they are very friendly. It is employed to comply with Bharat Stage-II emission Norms.

The engine displaces 124.7cc and develops a max. power of 9.13 Ps peak at 7000 rpm. The low end Torque is surprising best in with just 9 Bhp, which is 10.4 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. Carburetor which it uses is UCAL BS 26 CV type. Digital CDI ignition with ten ignition maps is used for good quality sparking and additional earthing device is employed to improve efficiency.

Vibration are Non and the engine is so refined and smooth that no matter how much you rev. it will respond calmly and remains unstressed. Fourth gear is what I needed due to good low-end torque. Thre is no need of fifth cog in this bike at least for me as after crossing 30 km, it is what is needed.

Performance is well set up, I had my fren at back of my bike with stop watch and as the bike was totally new, I didn't fully stressed her inorder to obtain aprox. value. She clocked with 9bhp from rest to 60 kph mark in 8.13 secs in my fren's watch but if it wasn't new and mine than it would have clocked somewhere in between 6-7 secs which is again good.

Top speed on my Speedometer was 108 kph. I had bought the Disc brake version which is excellent and brake quality and feel is good infact very good.

Fuel Efficiency( AMAZING, SURPRISING & NEW CHAMPS) :-

As per company claiming, I thought it would give around 60-65. But wait my Speedo has just clocked 340+ and I haven'e even done my servicing yet, it is 1 week old now and I had not used any additives petrol but just simple unleaded petrol.

On the highway run, it had the number marked on Tripmeter 86 km with 1 litre of petrol and on city with traffic lights, braking and constantly stopping to rest and frequent gear changes it gave me 69 kmpl with 1 litre.

On the overall condition of 60% highway and 40% city of long 45 Km to my college, she had returned me amileage of 75km on my Tripmeter which is really mind blowind and amazing hah and is really good for any 125cc bike which is rarely found in other 125cc bikes, which can't even come nearer to it.

The Bajaj Discover is giving overall fuel efficiency of 62kmpl but I recently heard from my fren who owns this bike that the mileage has dropped to 52kmpl after 3rd service. and the worst is googled eye Yamaha Fazer giving overall mileage of 55Kmpl to my uncle.

FUEL EFFICIENCY: 5/5

When Honda makes an engine then something is there in it, a quality bike with all qualities fulfilled, rules are set to be rewritten and SS 125cc rewrites the rule in this segment. The quality and refinement are tryly exceptional.

They know that Fuel-Efficient bike is what we needed and they have done well in other parameters too. I am a proud owner of Super Splendor 125 now and I recommend others to go for Top Version of this bike with Disc and E.S. which is good and luxurious. Really this bike is a Sarva Gunna Sampanna and vijayitoo.
