Hero Honda Splendor
A good bike lacking new advancements
I purchased my Splendor in the year 1996 when it was newly launched.
I rigorously used it for 6 years and did all types of journeys.
Let's see what are the PLUS and MINUS points in this bike.
PLUS POINTS
(1) Large wheel base makes the bike hold the ground properly and
enables good braking.
(2) Good seating.
(3) Strong bike. I never needed any major maintenance other then
regular servicing.
(4) Good pick-up.
(5) Fuel efficient on highways and when gets enough run in 4th gear.
(6) Excellent suspensions.
(7) Smooth ride.
MINUS POINTS
(1) No rectangular swing arm as in new bikes.
(2) Weak lights.
(3) Front suspension needs tension every 3-4 months if regular rough
rides.
(4) Narrow seats. Not comfortable for long, rough journeys.
(4) Low width of tyres and of inferior quality with flat surface
as compared to rounded surface gives more jerks.
(5) Gears need to be changed frequently. You can't move for somewhile
on low gears. It seems that the bike actually starts asking the rider
to shift gears. This is due to low RPM and less torque.
MY DECISION
Ignore it. Don't follow the trail.
Go for PASSION instead. But if you are serious about new technical
advancements and want to have a bike for long time go for
TVS VICTOR or LML FREEDOM.
Remember, TVS VICTOR and LML FREEDOM are the new splendor.
