My Dad purchased this bike is 2004 after selling his previous bike, a "Rajdoot". The reason he purchased this bike is because the Rajdoot was heavy and he got back pain due that bike and so doctor advised him to buy and use a Light weight bike. The second Reason is, The Rajdoot was about 21 yrs old and so that bike could do any further and that made us to buy a new one.
We didn't go for much choices becoz their weren't many and also Splendor was the top bike at that time and the best in term of mileage which gave about whooping 60kmpl.! And so we selected the hero Honda splendor.!
Pros of the bike -
1) A bike with nominal pricing, just about 44k! Pulsar was about 56k at that time!
2) A very light weight bike, a guy with just 50 kgs can handle the bike with ease.
3) Low maintenance cost. Just costs about Rs.400 for 6 months and not like pulsar's or unicorn over 1200.!
4) The bike is very compact with short handles and so u Can handle Traffic pretty easily.! 5) Excellent mileage. When purchased new, the bike gave about 60kmpl. Its about 10 yrs old and still the bike about 45 to 50 kmpl.! Thats impressive. My previous bike, Bajaj Discover, just gave about 20 kmpl after just 1 yrs. A Big Fail.
6) Cheap Replacement parts. Available every wer at all showrooms and repair centers.
Cons -
1) Speed doest no exceed 80kmpl, thats bad for bikers. BUT I consider this safe.!
2) The bike's breaks are not that strong becoz of lack of disk breaks.
3) bike's Battery is very weak. If head light is on, the horn sometimes does work. I mean, it works but not powerful.
My dad used this bike upto 2007 and after that he got transferred to another state wer he was given a car. I too got a Bajaj discover in 2005, but sold it in mid 2007 becoz of engine failure. So after 2007, I did not buy an another bike and started to use splendor until I would buy a new one. But in 2009 my dad passed away and after that I permanently decided to use this bike under his memory.
The bike even today gives the best performance as it gave in 2004. Awesome mileage and ride capability. And this bike is east to handle by me in traffic and parking. Love it!
I recommend guys or even girls or aged people who r lean and cant handle heavy bikes AND people who expect best mileage AND want to handle traffic easily, can buy this bike for sure. The bike is suitable for all kinds of class starting from lower, middle and even upper class people.
Verdict - I would say hero splendor is a best Indian bike suitable for ALL. May that class, or age or size. ALL.
