I never thought that I would enjoy writing reviews for TV advertisements. Before I got in this habit of writing reviews (this is just the third one though), it just used to be another ad. Just see it, laugh on it, enjoy it & forget it.
Anyways, here is another advertisement which caught my attention & had a lasting impression on my mind (enough to write a review for it.)
I would like to call this as a simple ad but (I repeat BUT) the statement passed on is pretty tough & everlasting on the viewers mind.
''Why Should Boy’s have all the Fun!''
Fine, the advertiser has done all of his work to bring advertise in line with the product placement strategy. He’s bang on the target. Bingo! (Dunno who the advertiser is - any body outthere knows that?)
So here we have a manufacturer whose marketing department have identified & dared to develop an altogether new sector – a scooter for only Women. Fine, other existing players in the scooty & scooter sector always showed girls riding such 2 wheelers (remember Preity Zinta’s advertise – 1, 2, 3...). But those scooter manufacturers were playing safe since they did not want to drive away the potential “guy” customers (seems the 100 CC auto geared scooters were also a preferred mode of travel amongst college going guy’s – especially who bought it for convenience & not to exhibit machoism). So this advertise just pulled it off in the favor of “aaj ki naari”.
Further, I guess the division of two wheelers using sex of the customers was started by Bajaj Pulsar (remember ‘Definitely Male!’). So I guess Hero Honda lurched a step ahead (read ‘a far ahead’) by taking on the turf war to extreme heights by launching a product & thereby creating an entirely new segment.
Something about the product, it seems that Pleasure is like an old wolf under new clothes. It’s no different from Hero Honda Activa –100 CC, auto geared scotterette.
Coming back to advertise, the jingle line sounds really cute – especially when it comes from the mouth of the most beautiful model in this advertise – the last scene in advertisement.
But wait, the tag line surely has its own minuses.
Firstly, I’m sure no guy (worth his salt) would even like (or dare, I should say) to ride, even on the pillion along with his girlfriend on this scooter.
Secondly, I was pondering more on the tag line. Considering the three things – a two-wheeler (to include bikes), a boy & fun! As far as I know, the only ''Pleasurely'' fun a guy gets when riding a two wheeler is when he’s got his gal on the pillion (rest remains unstated & unexplained). So if you got a scooter targeted for the women, then why this question?
So as a guy, I would ask the manufacturer “Boss! This (again unstated & need not be explained) is the fun ''most of the guys'' get when riding a two wheeler. So why are the girls posing this question in this advertise?” Except that riding a two wheeler is considered a fun & hence the question?
Any comments?
