I have brought this vehicle on March 26th 2009 after doing lot of market resarch in kolkata.I was initially inclined towards buying honda unicorn, but after taking a short walking ride with my friend's Unicorn, this bike proved to be too heavy for me.I am a complete newbie in biking world and did'nt ride any solo bike right upto 38 years of age.So I went to Balaji Motors in Kolkata and this beauty was there in the showroom and I just booked it without hesitation after my brother who has driven passion for 10 years recommended this bike to me.
I had taken my brother's help to learn biking on my new bike.He introduced me about clutch and gear and I was ready to start biking. Man, this passion pro throttle response is magic-I was in control of my bike within 1 hour.After 4 days, I got my licence and I took my bike straight to my office through pathetic kolkata roads.Every gear and clutch movements was like butter scotch.Initially, the gears were tachy, specially from 1st to 2nd, but became smooth after 10 days of driving.There is no need to panic for me as this bike is very responsive even to a newbie.The gears are spot on and the throttle is very inspiring.
Now I have covered 1500 kms. on this bike and I am confident about my bike.It is giving me 60 kmpl on city roads and 65+ kmpl on highways.Initially the gears were tachy, but as per instruction of some old reviews from MS members, I had taken my bike on long highway drive on Andul Expressway 75kms up down twice within 1 month.After that, the gears are very smooth and is ok.I have done my first free service and my bike is smoother.I have taken every care to not drive my bike above 45 km/hhr in any case within first 1000 km.
One problem I am facing is that the mileage drops with HP extra premium petrol-mileage is ok with plane unleaded HP petrol.Maybe other MS members can throw any light on this issue.
The headlight beam is ok in dark city roads/highways.But with high beam from oncoming traffic in city roads, the beam throw is not adequate.I am thinking of installing hid kit after my warranty period is over.
The bikes carb weight is 119 kg. and is very assuring while driving.I had driven into two potholes and in two occassion, the bike did not topple even on dead brake from 55/60 km/hr speed.The brakes(drum in both wheels) are very good and is ok even with a newbie like me.
The bike knocks when I am driving in 4th gear and going below 20 km/hr speed.Though it is natural as per showroom guys, any advice from u MS guys how I can improve on this front.
The electric start is spot on and is very handy in kolkata rush hours.I always atart my bike in morning with kick with choke on.
Now the the most important part-with Rs.50000/= on road price in kolkata, HH should have offerred tubeless tyres.HH has provided with MRF nylogrip tyres- no doubt this is good but I had punctures and had to replace rear tube within 15 days.Are u hearing HH guys.
Though I am a newbie, I have felt that this bike is very reliable.I have driven for 1.5 hr. on highways continuous with no overheating issue in the engine.The seat is wide and can accomodate 3 persons with no hiccup.The turn signals are also good, but the plastic holder will break if I slide my vehicle with anything else.
It is my first review with MS forum, and I have tried to cover every aspect of the bike, Oh, I forgot to mention my bikes colour is red with sporty black and looks nice.I am with love with this baby.
