Hi friends, I am back after a long time with my second review on my Passion Plus which I purchased in December 2003. My first review was titled Nothing Plus, which I posted on 14th May 2004 by mistake in Passion and not in passion plus. Now it is been more than a year I am riding this beautiful bike and feel can share my experience which may benefit the members.
Looks and colours :- As you all might agree, the looks of passion plus are really good. Passion plus is the only bike available in 11 colours which include three different colours in black red, black orange and black blue. Now TVS has come up with similar colours and stickering job on their GLX 125 and they have tried to copy the looks and colour of passion plus. I purchased turquoise blue, which I feel one of the best. But it was my choice, people like black with different stickering.
Gears:- Gears shifting is extremely good. Sometimes I even get confused whether the gear is changed or not. Just a light touch and.... But the 1st and 2nd gear are very week. You have to shift to third gear immediately you cross 25 kmph. Also it needs frequent gear shifting. You cant drive in 4th gear in 30 and in 3rd gear in 20. Have to come to lower gear. One can not hear the sound of your machine on red light or while riding. Sooooooooo smooth.
Services:- I have already done my 6 free services and 2 paid services. Free services at Hero honda workshop in Gurgaon were not bad. I just paid for oil change (hero honda 4t plus) Rs. 106/- everytime and nothing else and for remaining 2 paid services which I have got done from my mechanic have paid Rs. 90 for the same oil. So no problem with the service. Beside that I paid Rs. 300 for taflon coating because of the light colour and I felt that it might get faded.
Mileage:- have already done 11500 kms. Average on highways (Gurgaon-Delh) above 80. Local 58-60. Overall - 70-75. I think this is really good. I dont know about CT 100 and Centra for which companies claims 100. But Hero Honda claims 85 for their passion plus and I feel they are not cheating the people.
Accessories :- Breaks are good - both 130 mm. Tyres - MRF Zapper. Head light -35 Watts halogen - but I am not happy with the headlights. Fuel Guage is marvelous. No error at all. Otherwise parts are of good quality.
Riding Comfort:- Suspensions are good. Sitting position excellent. But the height of the bike is big and the legs of the pillion will not touch the ground even of a person with height of 5' 8''. So rider has to bear the weight when it is not moving. 6. Cost:- Compared to other executive segment bikes in 100-115 category, this is the costliest one. Cost ex showroom Delhi - 41885 (now HH is giving a discount of Rs. 1001 on all their bikes). Check the prices of LML Topper, LML Prima 110, Calliber 115, Kinetic Velocity, TVS Centra, Libero Yamaha. All are cheaper then Passion Plus.
Over all:- Over all a good bike, maintainance free, with good looks, with good riding comfort, good after sale service from HH. Other then the normal servicing, I have to spent Rs. 5 +10 just to get the chain tightened. No vibration at all even while driving @ 75. I have not crossed 75. But hero honda has to serious think of reducing the cost atleast Rs. 1000-1500 more for passion plus and splendour if they really want to be number one. Otherwise time is not far when, Bajaj with their competitive rates of their bikes like discover, calliber 115 and CT 100 will cross the sale of the legend HH. I hope you will like my review.
