Update: Nowhere I am claiming that karizma is not a good bike. Nor this review is a comparo of P180, ZMA with R1.... If you have any doubts, put up a comment. No offences meant to ZMA owners or Pulsar owners.

Both are NOT sports bikes.

Hey,

Have you ever thought why Bajaj is waiting so much to launch its bike against the most hyped karizma (karishma ki behen) from hero (bicycle-moped manufacture) honda?

You may have a look at

https://indiabike.com/roadtest/bajajpulsardtsi_0/engine.htm

Remember that the Pulsar is fully made in India. The target was actually to beat the HeroH CBZ. After hitting it black and blue, the manufacturer was not just yet satisfied :) It had to rule the market for long and take over all the market (I get reminded of Linux vs Micro$oft)

The DTSi tech is not an innovation/invention, but yes a marvel. Can you imagine a approx 1.2 bhp addition over the same engine combined with more/better fuel efficiency? Yes Bajaj has done it all!

Well I think Bajaj engineers are hard core Automobile engineers and not Software engineers like HH ones.

{

Splendor ++;

Ambition--;

Passion**;

(karizma)3; // tomorrow's upgrade to karizma?

}

Man, whats this stupidity? The marketing guys of HH need to really work out now. Over confidence of being the ''World number one'' -(mark it, its not World's number one) does not help even if they are almost ruling the market for about 8 years! Hey grammatical mistake to fool the jahil Indians?

Oh Boy, there is YAMAHA YZF R1 the world's number one (since 4 years!) waiting to take on!

Sorry, I was speaking about DTSi...

Heres what Pulsar has in it arsenal

  • DTS-i ; Good technology, gives better performance! Virtually knock free engine!

  • TRICS 3rd generation; Ever know why your pulsar can pull you off at any gear? TRICS tech is in short term throttle(accelerator) regulated ignition. Just open the throttle, and if you are at 7000rpm, god save you!

  • Carb; Ucal Mikuni CV.

  • Exhaustec; If you ever have a look at curve of power v/s rpm and torque v/s rpm, just check out the flat torque graph of the pulsar. It give you very pulling torque from 4000 to 7000 rpm at its peak. This is all about Exhaustec. In short high torque at low ends too. If you compare this with Karizma, the karizma fails miserably after 7000 rpm. Now you got the point why Pulsar 180 rules after 60km speed!?

The above was just about the Engine/Carb/Exhaust of the Pulsar.

What about Karizma? What does it has in store?

  • Keihin Carb just drinking your precious fuel at all throttle levels.

  • Upgraded CBZ/ambition engine with very short fins? Oh they are HOT - not to look at, but to feel :)

  • Soundless exhaust. My goodness, the Pulsar just roars against it. Tame me!!

In short you have nothing in you hand left after you pay so much!! Of course whose gonna buy a 80k bike with the C++ features of ++ and -- and no work done in fact on them in the internals?

Many mistaken the Karizmaben to be a sports class bike! Excuse me! Where are the rear discs??

Mono-shocks? Multi-cylinder engines? High rev engine?

Note: The red line of the karizma is at 8000-8500 rpm

Of the Pulsar is at 9000-9500rpm

Of the Yamaha R1 14000rpm :) Now still do you think its a sports bike then you are a pure Indian :) . Desi.

Just compare where is 130BHP for Yamaha R6 and pity 16.8 BHP for the fuel drinking Karizma.

If you think that this bike will zoom you out above 125km/hr, you are dreaming.. Even if you damage the rev limiters don't think you'll beat any chic driving in her Honda city.. You don't have any discs at the rear! No gas shocks!

Of course the karizma has 1 level lower grip than the Pulsar in the rear tyres.

Now read this:

https://indiabike.com/roadtest/bajajpulsardtsi_0/performance.htm

If you are one of the guys/gals who think your karizma will leave the Pulsar behind, rethink twice!

Power/tonne:

Pulsar 150 96 PS/tonne (13.51Ps @ 8500) - 140 kg

Pulsar 180 117.92PS/tonne (16.51Ps @ 8000) - 140 kg

Karizma 113.3PS/tonne. (17Ps @ 8000) - 150 kg

Karizma owner's will have a tough time even with Pulsar 150 and Fiero F2 after 50 kms/hr

So if you think they can't catch you, re think twice! Pulsar 180 has a top speed of 125 km/hr too according to bajaj.

Now let me fit all this in an equation to come to a conclusion -

  • Everything you pay for, you want the returns! It is a well known fact that karizma is a very poor fuel efficient bike and if you compare with the ps/tonne ratio. Its a clear loser. Upon this, Pulsar 180 has 10kmpl+ average than that of the 223cc bike. ''Fill it, Shut it, Forget it'' No more! I would say fuel and power efficiency is better than the CBZ, but you know who is the leader!

  • Drop this bike at low/high speeds and you will be very sorry about your pocket! No leg guard! OH, sports bike is it? ;)

And that is the reason I did not buy this bike even I had the money to buy it on cash :) I had the choice and I just had to make it right!

Conclusion:

Just imagine how black and blue the Bajaj 225CC bike(when/if it arrives) will beat this karizma out of the ring!

Till then, Bajaj rules; it does not need to worry! News is on my ears about this aquila style 220cc bike from Bajaj. Dunno for sure..

HH do some home work, shelling out a bike worth 80k to create a (h)ole in consumer's pocket and just in 1 to 1.5 years without any RnD is not worth it. I know Honda is your competitor now..

And stop coding! You are in the auto industry.

p.s. If you already have bought this vehicle. Sorry.. No hard feelings, but all said above is not a biased talk but facts!

Update:

Who should buy this bike?

Ones whose fathers are rich.. or one who is simply crazy about it...

The bike is not good for the city but its very good for highways.
