First of all I am happy to see some posts after June 2011 , after a long time :-)
Let me share the real time experience I had and how I ended up buying this classy bike.
I would like to start with the options which I had it in my mind going for a bike. The one and major Factor which I looked in was the looks , and then came the power and third came the popularity
as I already have 200 cc Pulsar and earlier 150 cc Apache , this time I wanted to go for some higher CC bikes simply cos of the power.
The bike which I had it in Mind was , Avenger , Pulsar 220, Karizma ZMR.
Believe me Yamaha R15 was never in my frame as I feel Yamaha Bikes are over pricey for what they are , R15 has the power but at the end of the day its just 150 cc bike.
I Rejected Avenger due to Seat being very narrow for pillion and Turning radius being huge,
Pulsar 220 CC as usual in roads it will look as just one more product of Pulsar also Pulsar 220cc might be fast but the riding quality is bit Risky , the bikes swings a lot in high speeds.
Now finally I had the only Option of ZMR , the normal perception which ppl have when we talk abt karizma is the Mileage issue , this was a big challenge ahead for me to make up my mind to go for it as I had a hope that PGMFI engine would bring some improvement in the mileage stuff.
After a thorough research I went forit and bought it in Delhi for a On Road Price of 1.07.(The New Black colour)
Now let me share the riding experience
1)
Looks ----The Bikes looks truly awesome in Roads , the Front Fairing is the one to get attracted for . It simply makes ppl to get engrossed onto the bike. And to be frank whenever I set for a ride I look out for ZMR in roads but I hardly find any in my daily commute , and I really feel good about it cos u ll feel urself Unique.
2) Riding Quality---- is at its best , in this segment No Back problem as in R15, the bikes gives a comfortable riding position and mirrors at a distance gives a really wide look of the rear vehicles.Pillion Rider is comfortable.
3) Mileage --- Well I must say I have won it from ppl and believe me guys this bike is much better in terms of Mileage, I have drove the bike for 2000 kms (Second Service Due) and surprisinlgy it gives me a impressive 40kmpl , as I am commuting daily From Gurgaon NH8 which might have helped in tuning the engine for optimum mileage.
4) Speed- ---- To be frank let us accept the fact that we in india drive the vehicles through Indian traffic really cant have that luxury to drive more than 100km/hr , So Speed was never an issue for me , Pulsar 220cc might be the fastest in road but it achieves nothing as it goes through the same congested roads.
5) Maintenance - - - As of now no Maintenance required , it would be too early for me to comment on it but guess the engine reliability of Honda bikes are good .
Certain Things which could have been better
1) Tyres :
Well this has been a let off from Hero Honda. The tyres is not broader but if u really insist on more balance u can change the tires after the warranty period is completed
2) Headlight:
The Halogen bulb of 35w , Could have been better if 50w. Cos 35w bulb doesnt carry the distance of the light much
3) Slightly Careful with the fairing
This is my own expereince that ZMR is having slightly low Ground clearance so u need to be extra careful while going through speed breakers , there is a high of chance hitting at the bottom which can damage the fairing.
4) Slow Acceleration
THis is one thing which pulsar is unbeatable , 200cc pulsar raises to 70 in quick time compared to Karizma, ZMR takes slightly more time for it to reach high speeds but its nothin to crib about much as in Indian roads 5th gear is just a rare thing.:-)
On the whole the ZMR is truly class apart , and with the looks of the bike u earn the respect on roads, Nice to be part of ZMR family , I believe this review would be enough to make sure those who have chosen this bike have taken a good decision. Other bikes are also good in this segment but the individual taste matters and I confidently feel I have taken the right decision.
I will keep you guys posted once my bike goes for a second service by this week.
