What is the mileage after first service?
75 kmpl(city). What is the mileage before first service?
53 to 59 kmpl(under city conditions). I drove the bike mostly on top gear and between 30-40 kmph and focused mainly on smooth driving. The gear speed ratio was 2nd - 10, 3rd - 20, 4th - 30. Why did you buy this bike?
I bought this bike because of its 1. Great reviews 2. Mileage(75 kmpl in city) 3. Low maintenance
I relied completely on Mouthshut reviews of CD Dawn. A summary of these reviews is given at mileageinfo[dot]com
What is the price?
Total is Rs 47, 062 . Rs 40, 144 Ex-Show Room+ Rs 3520 Registration+ Rs 1383 Insurance+ Rs 275 Goodlife+ Rs 1740 Accessories. Tips for a new buyer?
- Go for Hero engines not Bajaj or TVS. 2. Find a good dealer in your city. 3. Read OWNER'S MANUAL very carefully(which you'll get with your bike).
How was your experience with the dealer?
It’s a long term decision so I was very careful. To find a dealer I visited Hero website found two dealers in my city. I visited both and assessed very carefully. I finalized on the basis of reputation and friendliness. Mouthshut reviewers had really painful experiences with their dealers so I was very cautious. Fortunately the dealer I chose is excellent.
What other bikes did you consider?
My budget was quite liberal. Initially planned to buy pulsar for its looks and also my dream bike. But after reading reviews of Bajaj products, I changed my mind. Within Hero brand I almost finalized Super Splendor because of one MS review “I opened the engine for my cd100 ss at 70, 000 km and for supersplendor it is 1, 25, 000 km.” However its reviews are not consistent; check out mileageinfo[dot]com for Super Splendor and CD Dawn review. The Super Splendor review says: “However when it comes down to the numbers, it gets pretty confusing. I honestly could not find a pattern in the numbers reported by various customers.” In contrast the CD Dawn review is far better over there. But after reading all 20 reviews of CD on I picked this bike. I wanted a reliable fuel efficient low maintenance partner for a life time. What features are not good?
The headlight is worst. While driving in dark you won't see anything with the headlight on. You will have to rely on streetlights. What about the features that are NOT present in this bike?
1. Electric Start/Self Start/Button Start
2. Fuel gauge or meter
