Back to June 2002 when my parents bought Hero Honda CBZ for me.. How can I forget that day.. I was crazy about this bike when launched in, I guess, 1999.. Before me owning one, I used to stare at anybody riding this bike.. Loved it for its sporty looks.. I bought a Black one.. yea, my fav color.. Enough abt me now and lets start about the bike.. hmm.. how is this bike..
1. Looks: Got killer looks!! No bike in the 150cc segment had such sporty looks.. Looks good in any color.Be it Silver, red, Black, green or Blue.. Nicely shaped fuel tanked.. there is something special about the panels just below the seat.. the design is too good.. It looks a bit bulky and wide..
2. Comfort: The seats are well positioned.. I have no problem riding the bike for long journeys.. Well, abt the rear seat, some people might find it a bit small and at a height but then this bike is meant to be sports bike look-a-like so it cant have a splendor like seat..
FYI, I have done Nasik-Pune-Nasik (total kms is approx. 500 plus) in one day on this bike and had no back aches.. the journey was comfortable.. Also done many long rides covering 200kms plus in a day. While on these journeys, many times I touched 130 kms\hr speed and the bike was quite stable.. The bike would reach 80-90kms\hr easily..
3. Reliability: The bike is with me for the last 6 years and touch wood the journey till now is trouble free.. I have no issues with the engine till now.. Very reliable engine.. I have clocked more than 40k kms and no issues.. Got my both tires changed recently and thats the biggest expenditure on my bike.. there were a few expenditures like the front panel (head light set) had broken so got it changed and few here n there.. But no issues with the engine.. I would say Hero Honda bikes are more reliable than Bajaj bikes when it comes to engine. This may differ though.. ;) Damn robust engine..
4. Handling: This bike has gone through rough roads as well as concrete roads and no problem while driving on any kind of roads courtesy excellent suspension..The tires have a very good grip.. I have ride my friend's pulsur and didn't find much comfortable and also found handling not so reliable.. The front disc brakes do their job diligently but you need to use them at correct point otherwise you have an accident. .so be careful when using disc brakes..
5. Fuel Consumption: I had no issue with fuel consumption till recently when the petrol prices had a hike. I get a mileage of 35-38 kms per litre and I am quit happy with that.. Initially I used to get 45-47 but then the mileage decreased as I didnt maintained it well and timely service was not done :( ...
Now a days, I dont ride much since I use my 4 wheeler for daily commuting.. I have still kept it and may never change my bike. It was my first bike and was my dream bike. :) Even if I plan to sell it, I wont get a good price since thie bike does not have a good resale value.. This version of CBZ is no more available in the market while buying a new bike.. The newer version, I heard is good but is meant for fuel efficiency more than power and also I didnt find the new look much appealing.. I think Karizma (another great bike from Hero Honda) is good and pulsur 220(donno abt pulsur's engine though)
At last, Proud to be a CBZ owner.. Still today people talk about this bike..
